If China was smart they would make nice, but they are thin skinned and arrogant which is usually not smart.
Every major country in the world and in their markets is royally pissed because of what they did with the Wuhan coronavirus. There will be repercussions and China is highly vulnerable to business, manufacture and trade going elsewhere.

CNN- China should be thanked and praised for their threats of election interference. Fair elections are a direct threat to our democracy, are the existential crisis of our time and could cause a constitutional crisis.

It's doubtful that this will be the first time that they have tried to influence our elections. We'd probably try to influence their's, if they had them.
