I think it's weird that Persians and Arabs in America used to be white because they're caucasian and conformed to Western culture, but recent identity politics has labeled them as non-white.
Admittedly, 9/11 presented some new challenges for some of my family members, but Arabs and Persians used to be ubiquitous in American society. Arabs all over Lafayette were always "white". The Boustanys, Haiks, Hannas, and Mansours are Arabs. Hell, Garrett Graves and Ralph Abraham are of Arab descent. It's like we went backwards.
This is Qassim Suleiman. Appearance-wise, he would fit right in here in Louisiana:

A big issue with identity politics is the actual identification. At least half of Mexico is Caucasian (and more of their elites) but everyone thinks they are all Pedro the yard man
