You’re right, all inputs have gone steadily up while sale barn prices remained flat. Now that producers are finally able to start investing in infrastructure (like we are) because prices at the barn are insane, people complain. I get it. Costs have gone up everywhere and now beef is too.
If people would take a step back and realize the amount of damage inflation caused on inputs and the amount of money brought into the system in 2020….yeah it’s bad.
Packers have been making a killing the past few years, the producer (farmer/rancher) needs some too. Beef prices typically go in ten year cycles but I’m not sure how long the high prices will last now with all the points made in this thread.
But Trump stating we are doing well because of him? It would have came regardless, again, pricing is cyclical. Tariffs are helping. A decently large portion of ranchers don’t set the price, we are producing a commodity. Some do boutique butchery and demand a premium and that’s completely fine. But your everyday rancher/farmer isn’t doing that and taking whatever price is at the sale barn auction.

I was reading in the Houston Chronicle the other day that we haven't had this few cattle since 1951. The domestic supply seems to be more of an issue than general inflation. We simply need more cattle here in the US

Really everyone should be up in arms about what Argentina is doing. Republicans that actually care about the environment, and the liberal "greenies" that claim to, should all be livid.
Every year, they're clearing thousands more acres of prime forested land and completely altering the biomes, just to plant more soybean farms and they're getting into corn now as well.
Almost every conservative I know actually cares about the environment and aren't just virtue signaling like a lot of the Democrats. We are avid outdoorsmen, and hunting, fishing and gardening enthusiasts. We find ourselves picking up other people's trash when we end up out in the woods and on the water, because we like seeing a clean and healthy world.
It's is we, who raise hell about the real issues that can and will affect global weather if they continue, such as deforestation, overharvesting of oceanic food sources, and the astronomical pollution levels coming out of China and India. Don't ever let a liberal accused you of not caring about the world, when they're the ones who just absolutely refuse to even think about what's happening in Asia.
