The bottom line is, some people thought it was OK to completely subjugate certain other people, and treat them like animals, for economic reasons. And some people justified it with Biblical references. Some still do.

If you have any doubts just read about catholic priests first hand accounts of exorcisms. There are some books with detailed accounts. Some examples of the possessed are People levitating off the ground . Supernatural strength. Having knowledge about things they could absolutely not know.

Yes, I believe in demonic possession. More often what impacts people, and even Christians, is demonic oppression. There is a difference and it's how they attempt to impact us. We live in a supernatural world, we've just been desensitized and blinded to it.
