That was an idiotic statement by him and if Obama said it, this board would’ve crashed by now. Be consistent.

Executive Orders were how past Presidents bypassed the authority issue. Bush and especially Obama made frequent use of it.
I was just thinking how he should respond to these irate news readers asking him nonsensical stuff about reopening: "Obama had a pen and phone, mine's platinum and gold, next question."

Does a President have absolute authority?
...hint: Trump doesn’t...not did Obama nor did GWB...and neither will our next

You are correct, sir! But, Trump clearly does not give a shite and neither do the people who support him. He and we have ahd enough of these despicable and deplorable media members who exist within their own echo chamber. Trump is now in full campaign mode and he is going scorched earth.

It wasn't like he just stood up and proclaimed it

I think Mike Pence has just (and perfectly) settled the matter.

Tell me where I’ve said he had the authority to shut it down?

I think the President should have a done a better job making sure that states started making plans for the inevitable...i think overall the government gets a D on their responses - mainly bc it was reactionary and not planned

The federal government has very wide authority over interstate commerce, should they choose to exercise it. He could force businesses open that affect interstate commerce.

Local restaurants even since they probably purchase outside their state. I think FDR's supreme court cemented this authority when a man was forced to stop growing his own wheat because it affected interstate commerce.

I'm not a lawyer, so don't hold me to the FDR timeline or the fact that it was wheat.

By the way, a very bad precedent by the supreme court.

Someone has no clue that the entire US and all its territories are operating under a declaration of emergency. It is not business as usual.

Now in your ignorantly esteemed wisdom, what one person controls that declaration and the ramifications from it?
