To what beliefs of mine are you referring? The fact that I don’t openly call for genocide of Palestinians like many on this board? I think that’s what’s gotten you agitated recently, right?

It's the fact that you believe genocide is happening between a nuclear power and a population that, if left to their own devices, would be in the stone age, even though said stone age society is rapidly increasing its population.

With that logic...

Christian apologetic logic? Let's not pretend I pulled that out of my arse.

*Shrugs* Yeah, seems so. Sorry.

This reminds me of people piling on the silly story of Joseph Smith. When you're outside the respective bubbles, it's likely going to appear silly.

No, I don’t. I don’t have narrow-minded religious beliefs.

So, you hold no beliefs regarding religion? Try replacing the words “religious beliefs” with the term “worldview.” Now, please explain how that worldview is not narrow.

That's a narrow-minded belief? Why does it make you so angry if I do believe that?

However silly, it had several legs up on the Gospels.

- No anonymous sources, there are names and faces attached to all testimonies.
- All their accounts are consistent.
- The original accounts exist, not copies of copies of translations of copies.
- The accounts weren't given decades after the fact.

Silly? Absolutely. Stronger claims than the Gospels? Absolutely.

Of course I do. Everyone does.

OK. I still don't get it.

I'm not angry. Just holding your feet to the fire.

You don't have narrow minded *religious* beliefs. I do agree.

I mean Moses and his burning bush is as silly as Joseph Smith and the Indians and plates or whatever. It all seems silly when you haven't bought in.

Silly origination is not the standard you want to go with.

Although Jesus's story isn't THAT silly, in comparison. Supernatural, but not silly. Biggest thing with his origin story is the gap in life story. He's basically a Mary Sue, which always was weird to me from a religious POV.

I'd chalk that up to being brought up in a Christian-majority society.

I used to think flooding the world to kill people was something God just *had* to do, likely because I was coloring Noah's Ark pictures with smiling animals and a rainbow when I was 5. It's hard to undo those sorts of things imo.

Being the son of God, would you expect less?

Joseph Smith’s own mother said he was a notorious liar and prone to making up fanciful tales! He was also a known womanizer and history says he was shot to death in a prison cell by the husband of one of his lovers

What else would you expect from a God character though? Jesus embodies perfection so He really couldn’t be portrayed as anything but.

Do you think I'm Mormon or something?

I think Joseph Smith is full of shite. That doesn't invalidate what I said about Mormonism.

There are tons of gods and most of them weren't perfect from the outset. Their development is the mirror for the human consuming the religion.

I'm generally pretty irreligious. I love studying religious traditions though.

Hmm. Could be a chicken/egg situation.

I can totally see how someone would think it’s all bull. But I also know with 100% certainty that it’s not.

So what’s your conclusion to this point? Do you believe that there is a God? If so, which religion best describes that God, and which one best reflects reality- in the sense of adherence to, or deviance from that belief system? If you don’t believe in God, why not?

Yes, there are many Elohim, but only one who is perfect and rules over all.
