DOGE was not the failure. The concept is valid, the issue is all of the money that is going out to politicians and their cronies. When the threat to shut down this money pipeline is introduced, suddenly, both Democrats and Republicans dig in their heels. Because, how dare they try to take money from my district, or shut down my hometown project, or stop my favorite charity from getting a cut. None of these bastards have the heart for our country. It is ll about staying in power and eating from the best plate at the table.
Elon's concept was fine. He even pulled back the curtain a little bit so we could see the corruption that our tax dollars is funding.

Nothing will make a dent until Social Security and Medicare/Medicaide is cut on.

They founs millions of illegals on medicare. He also uncovered the rico scheme where many states were overbilling the fed govt for medicare. Cali alone was ripping us off for 19 billion, the piece he wanted to put in the senate bill would have saved 250 billion.

He fixed a lot of the fraud with SSnumbers, but its kind of tough when dems are handing out the numbers at the border and no one has gone to jail for that. ITIN numbers were specifically designed for non citizens to be able to work and file taxes SO WHY ON EARTH DID WE GIVE THEM REAL SS numbers. No one will answer for that.

In 2022, 342,890 noncitizens received Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments. This represented 4.5% of all SSI recipients. In December 2022, the average monthly payment to noncitizens was $503.75.

cuts spending by roughly $150 billion a year.

From what I understand, it just flattens the upward trajectory by $150B /year, correct?

Its better than nothing, but its not spending $150B less than last year.

Everyone already knew there is massive waste.

Sure, but an argument in these pages was that there was massive fraud. Fraud is easy to eliminate; you don’t need Congress to do that. But I, and a few others, argued in the minority on here that there was not massive fraud.

All fraud should be hunted down and prosecuted, but to think that there is fraud, material to the size of the annual deficit, is ridiculous. Many on here argued otherwise. They have now been proved wrong by DOGE’s inability to find much fraud.

Promised $2 trillion in savings.

No they didn’t. There were a few bold statements in the very beginning about $2 trillion, but it very quickly became $1 trillion, where it remained. Any fair representation would state the goal as $1 trillion. Still absurdly high, but half of what you contend.

Dodge/Musk recommended roughly 180 different cuts to help reduce the deficit. Dems have filed lawsuits to stop around 160 of those cuts. Can you really call it a failure when everything they’ve attempted has been stopped by crooked judges and gov officials?

Results matter. Obviously Elon isn't as influential as he thinks he is.

Just curious if you knew anything about all of the fraud and theft with USAID before DOGE?

Exposing this alone has made me believe that DOGE is a huge success - it opened millions of eyeballs.
