I agree. I have also told the school to send me the bill for any child that can't afford to pay and help pay for a summer program to make sure they are fed when school isn't in session or holidays. Kids can't help the situation their parents are in. They shouldn't be denied food or singled out for being a "free lunch kid". I was a free lunch kid and was treated like shite by having to go through a separate line. Many asses were kicked over comments about my situation. To this day I can still feel the rage and remember how embarrassed I felt. Wound is still fresh 40 years later.

Anybody that disagrees can suck a dick and meet me at the closest Sonic.

Hell no. School food is disgusting. Bring your own lunch.

it is disgraceful what we serve kids in school at lunch, it is empty carbs and sugar and thats it. look up any country on our level, any one you want, and look at what they do. heres 10 days in Japan. I dont even have kids and this annoys me, we shovel money into cops and the military and other pointless shite while our children eat cardboard with a coke.

I would rather make prisoners out of people who fail to feed their children. The American taxpayer should not be compelled to foot the bill to feed children that are not theirs.

Something just doesn’t sound as good when it’s all spelled out.

do you people like kids or not?

I have kids...grown now...and grandkids with more on the way.

My money goes to my kids/grandkids before anyone else's who won't get off their arse and provide. That's pretty much been that way throughout history.

Those who can't provide are different but then again maybe they shouldn't be having kids to start with.

One of the responsibilities of being a parent is to feed your children.

In one hand i agree its the parents responsibility to feed their kids, on the other hand i don't think the kid should be punished for whatever reason their parents are doing their job and if you are a real Christian you don't want to see any kid suffer

The amount of absolute trash in this country that can't provide 3 meals a day to their kids is absolutely sad.

Free and reduced lunch is just another handout to the poors and leaches of society.

No child should go hungry.

Unless their parents, who have to pay for lunch, for some reason didn’t pay, then no food for their kids

Offering kids a free meal at school is a decent use of my taxes. For several reasons:
1.) It really can’t get abused, and the government is going to spend the money either way.
2.) If a kid came to my house and was hungry I would feed them. Let’s be honest, every decent person you know would not deny a hungry child in your neighborhood something to eat.
3.) I want to break the cycle of poverty, and getting someone educated is probably the best way to break that cycle. If giving food to kids gets momma to send them to school, then maybe we save a few.

I’d much prefer spending tax dollars on this than giving it to Ukraine or climate change hoaxes

US just printed another $800 billion in scams to “fight inflation” and spends almost a trillion year with the military industrial complex. And that is just to start.
Global food issues could be solved with 35-45 billion a year, less than we wasted with corrupt Ukraine so far.
And we argue about feeding children breakfast and lunch?
Great societal priorities…

This really shouldn’t be a controversial decision with all the taxpayer money we waste on everything else. Heck, Joe wants to pay the college loans for people who willingly took on the debt.

There’s lessons to learn everywhere. I remember having to get free lunches. It was embarrassing since everyone basically knew you were the poor kid.

Was one of my earliest memories thinking that I don’t want this lifestyle when I get older. Little off the point but simply, if you can pay do it. If the child honestly needs the money because their parents then I’d gladly handle the bill.

No. Don't have children if you can't feed them. If the state is feeding your kids, then they aren't your kids.

That's the first priority of being a parent.

I might agree if food stamps were cut accordingly…. Right now many kids get free breakfast and free lunch then a take home bag lunch five days a week but mom’s food stamp allotment isn’t cut a dime…
