The CA prop was meant to be a counter to Texas picking up 5 R seats.

The whole campaign was sold as stopping Texas from helping Trump.

So now CA is going to get away with it while Texas can't even do this.

Unbelievable

Not sure but it was the latest so that’s why it reverts back

A FAFO moment, if you will.

This is the classic case of Democrats being so much better at this than Republicans. That's why the "fight fire with fire" revenge tours of the GOP typically end up as a big L, especially the super aggro version done by MAGA

Well, the GOP better win offices the old fashioned way. And the GOP is not very popular right now. And the Democrats have dropped the Epstein millstone, very artfully around the GOP's neck. From where we were in November '24 to where we are now. It is an exercise in futility.

Correct

Again, I think Texas could have benefited from taking California’s approach and only allowing redistricting if it passes. It’s a red state, surely it would pass.

another example of soft arse R’s not doing what needs to be done.

Or, Texas violating the law so much that even trump-appointed judges recognized that Texas' gerrymandering was wrong.

Don't forget about the shaky economy being the perpetual shoe drop metaphor. If that happens at any point between now and Nov 2026 the GOP and MAGA are toast.

California had a non-partisan commission to deal with re-districting. Californians voted to put that aside. Texas doesn't have that and I suspect it would require a constitutional amendment. Once again, GOP outplayed.

Just get ready for a dem House with about twenty five democrat socialists.

No. It's a classic case Republicans being on the same team as the Dems acting like they aren't.

Same old song and dance.

anti gerrymandering

They should have based their argument on this - UNDOING the gerrymandering done by PRIOR directives.

He doesn’t care. It’s the legal processes and maneuverings that he touches himself over. The results for the country are irrelevant

Yep which is exactly how every state should handle it.

Lawmakers deciding how your vote counts should not be a thing. Redistrciting in and of itself is fine, and needed in many cases. But abusing your power through choosing how much a persons vote counts in a given area, specifically to win elections, is not how a democracy should function.

And before I catch Hell, I also hope that California decides against moving forward now. They are facing a ton of litigation, so they may opt to let this go in the wake of this news.

What is the status of the Louisiana racial gerrymandering case that is/was before the SCOTUS? If the SCOTUS rules to overturn Section 2, then wouldn't this Texas ruling fall into that as well?

Can we agree that it shouldn’t exist in ANY form?
