There is no dang way those maps would have passed in Texas if it were set up for a vote. There is a reason why most "replublican" states dont allow citizen-led ballot initiatives, because if each state had them, y'all would lose the power to trample over the majority.

It won't go to the 5th Circuit, because it was a three-judge panel, this case would have to be appealed to the S.C.

This is basically the future of this country at stake.

Didn’t realize voting cases got that treatment. Interesting. I thought this was the fifth circuit.

Can we agree that it shouldn’t exist in ANY form?
No. "Gerrymandering" is the term when you do not like how the district is drawn.
Lines have to be drawn somewhere.

Substantial evidence shows that Texas racially gerrymandered the 2025 Map.
Nonsense.

That may actually be better for republicans. The redrawn lines may have over-diluted the republican vote in many of the districts.
Good point.
I am in Tennessee's 7th District and we have a special election in 2 weeks. This was a solid Republican district and then the state legislature redrew the maps and split up Nashville in order to get rid of a solid Democrat district. Still went
The Democrat just might win - The Nashville area will have enormous turnout. A lot of people outside Nashville do not even know there is an election.

Boomer Judges doing what Boomer Judges do

The SCOTUS needs to strike gerrymandering down now as voter disenfranchisement or there is just going to be a continuous wave of this as states are going to redraw their maps every two years

It's not like the deep blue CA legislature would have rejected this or the deep red TX populace would have rejected a referendum if those options were available.
What? California has this baked into their state constitution

Jasmine Crockett headed to olive garden to celebrate this decision. Unlimited salad and pasta.

This is the biggest story of them all and no one really gives a shite. They are all more worried about Epstein.

Judge Brown is a Trump appointee and a republican
This is a bit misleading. Often Federal Judges are appointed by Presidents who have vastly opposing views and they are appointed as a part of a deal to get more of their “ally” Judges appointed, thus you can’t really put too much stock into who appoints them to correlate to a specific political ideology just by the appointment.

Cool. So no more complaining about judges who were appointed by Presidents not named trump.

You can bank on Cali eliminating multiple GOP seats and being allowed to by the courts. The whole judicial system right now seem to be ant-democratic and openly leftwing partisan. It's almost like a lot of Founding Father's nightmare about imperial judges is coming true.

Settle down, SCOTUS is about to nuke all of this BS. It will be fine. There is a reason that the states NG has been ordered to have quick response teams ready to go.

I’m sorry, I just don’t want gerrymandering at all.
It’s lazy.
It’s lazy.
