We all know exactly what the cure is. And there is honestly only one cure:

It's self-limitation and responsibility. Honestly, the only way forward is to not care about the news and politics 24 hours a day 7 days a week. To go back to reporting real news, rather than opinions.

They have to essentially, "not want" eyes on their screens. As long as they do, they will do everything they can to keep them there, that is the whole point of having a channel.

This is the first of the big markets where we need to realize that growing, just to grow and consume, has major consequences. There is no version of a CNN/MSNBC/Fox News that won't be concerned with its own growth and all costs. That's what businesses do.

True but the populations were smaller so I wouldn't even be able to begin to think about scale and reach back in the day for a relative analysis. Remember cable news get pretty terrible ratings as far as % of the population that watches on a nightly basis.

I understand. I don't watch any of it, but I get a pretty good idea of what they are discussing based on what gets posted on social media or discussed around the water cooler so to speak. I think the op article mentions the reach this propaganda/ratings journalism has being it's direct audience.

I love it.

These ‘news’ outlets are just propaganda outlets with no regard for balance

They set an agenda and plug the news into it as they see fit. They hate trump so there will be no good news to come out on him. Ever!

Sometimes I think it might just be best to concede the White House and own the senate, and house but I don’t trust it to work out that way.
