What is the word? And understand, while I try to be careful with words/suggestions, I'm not going back to posts to make sure I'm not substituting one of your words with a different word with the same approximate meaning.

Did I misstate your opinion - that DeSantis is inauthentic and unprincipled?

clearly because the last part of your diatribe needed it to not look like an unjustified rant.

Rant? Damn, Davy

In reality, I've only been interested in an example of a DeSantis action as governor or house member that's inconsistent with him being a genuine conservative.

You obviously have no idea what a 90's era liberal was. You've listed a bunch of stuff that Trump and Clinton (back then) both agree on. Great work.

We’ll be able to get past this, diggity dave. Merely a speed bump. Our friendship’s best days are ahead.

And the word I was talking about is “unprincipled.” I don’t believe he’s unprincipled. Of course same as many other concepts, “principle” can and does take on many a different meaning from person to person to person and so on and so forth. Regardless what everyone defines as various principles that must make the master list of principles, and which boxes Desantis may or may not check off that list, I have no doubt he’s got a good heart and is a good person. There’s principle in that alone.

Trumps actions the past 10 months prove just how little he loves this country.

Yes…and his political affiliation the past 37 years makes me question his loyalty, stability and ability to maintain relationships. Seems kind of wishy washy, probably following “the deal” and financial benefits.

quote:

Has he apologized and admitted his mistakes during Covid? Has he apologized for the Cares Act? The disastrous social Justice bill? Has he condemned Roger Stone, Steven Cheung, Laura Loomer, etc for their vile, destructive, obscene behavior?

More importantly, what even is he? A Republic? An undercover Democrat sent to destroy the Republican Party? A Nazi-wanna be? I’m so confused? I know he’s entertaining, but I don’t think he’s what we need in the Republican Party right now.
Trump's political party affiliation has changed numerous times. He registered as a Republican in Manhattan in 1987, switched to the Reform Party in 1999, the Democratic Party in 2001, and back to the Republican Party in 2009.

Edited to add: TRUMP IS THE UNI-PARTY

I'm not twisted. At all. I'm not sure why you're "melting" (a term I use tongue in cheek). I have zero problem with anything you've posted, I just don't agree with some of it and am unsure where some of the rest of it comes from. This is all done in text and it's easy to be on different pages.

quote:

Okay, now we can get somewhere.

I took several words of yours and came up with unprincipled. Tell me that the following (your words) don't add up to "unprincipled" -

he’s not speaking from the perspective of true beliefs deep down in his soul,

We're talking politics, not RDS's personal life. I read your words and it says you think his politics are not based on principles but rather what sounds best at the moment. I think that means unprincipled.

quote:

Desantis may or may not check off that list, I have no doubt he’s got a good heart and is a good person. There’s principle in that alone.

Then that's the confusion. I'm talking politics, and you thought I was suggesting you think he's an a-hole on a personal level.

That's why I asked for an example of something DeSantis has done consistent with him not being a genuine conservative. I didn't ask for an example of him cheating on his wife, defrauding someone or playing Hunter Biden with a hooker.

I see your long post there, and I see that it’s seemingly contentious and adversarial in nature. My last post to which you replied here was clearly an effort to lighten the mood and bury the hatchet for the night. But you somehow ran with it in a completely different direction. So if we’re that badly off kilter, on vastly different wavelengths, then perhaps there’s no further possibility of reasonable conversation to be had, hopefully limited to the remainder of this night only.

**I may have been a little melodramatic with the above remarks after re-reading your post. I was a bit taken aback though at my effort at peace being spurned. I don’t know heck.

Serious question, will he be able to fill a cabinet? Would be tough accepting a job where there is 95% chance your boss will end up firing you.

davy, there's nothing contentious or adversarial in my post.

I don't know what else to tell you but, frick, there isn't a shred that's adversarial or contentious in that post.

Seriously, nothing in that post that's adversarial.

All you guys bitch about how United the Dems are and then you trash the Rep party leader and the man who is the most popular Republican since Reagan. And then you accuse us of being inconsistant with our values. Lol

Rob read my post and finally realized what needed to be done!

If only he would have waited until 2028, he would have been handed the nomination on a silver platter.
