FWIW, dating back to Jenner, vaccination is a procedure employed to stimulate immunity to a particular infectious disease or pathogen. A vaccine is the substance used to impart vaccination. Simple as that.
If someone felt need to change the definition of vaccination or vaccine for some reason, then their original definition was poorly conceived.

Agree. People are ret-conning themselves into too narrow a definition of vaccines. It's like saying "this isn't an engine because there's no internal combustion..."

If true, then Interleukin 2 is a vaccine. So is interferon. So are Vitamins C, E, B6, and so is Zinc.
None of these biochemicals has ever been referred to as a vaccine. Until this thread, that is.

Of course not!
Vaccination induces pathogen-specific immunity. Pathogen-specific immunity entails formation of antigen-targeting antibodies.
Antibodies attack and neutralize specific antigenic pathogens. Whereas essential elements, vitamins, and cytokines play roles in the immune process, none is pathogen-specific.
