Yes because it has played such a massive part in the history of world wars......
Past battlefields are not what determine future military value. Geography, technology, and threat vectors do. Dismissing Greenland because it hasn’t been a major world war battlefield is like saying aircraft carriers were unimportant before 1941 or that cyberwarfare is irrelevant because it didn’t exist in earlier wars.
If we followed that logic consistently, we’d also have to say that military locations in the continental United States are strategically unimportant since no world war has been fought on most U.S. soil.
Greenland’s relevance is about position, not precedent. Arctic access, control of North Atlantic air and sea lanes, early-warning radar, missile defense, and great-power competition are shifting northward.

Greenland is becoming absolutely vital for control of space and extremely useful for as yet unmined resources. We don’t need to have sovereignty over Greenland, but we do need to have access to it.
Not to mention shipping channels. EU wants us to protect their arse and shipping channels but doesn’t want to cooperate. Example one is Diego Garcia.

Heres a thought: You're on the internet right? You're aware of things like ChatGPT?
Go to ChatGPT and type in, "Why would gaining control of Greenland be good for the United States?"
Report back, or not

I love maps that make Greenland the same size as africa
Mercator projection maps
They have their purpose but warp the size of things as you get further from the equator
I think Africa is about 14 times the land area as Greenland

I'm as big of a Trump supporter as anyone, but do we really need Greenland?
How about taking the insane amount of money, that Greenland would cost, and putting it towards something useful.... like the deficit, or something to reduce mortgage rates so I can buy a new house at reasonable monthly note?
I mean really....what would owning Greenland actually do for us?
There are a lot of untapped natural resources in Greenland including rare earth minerals that the War Department has deemed of strategic importance.
Any ballistic missile attack from the European part of Russia would fly over or close to Greenland. Which makes it the ideal place to deploy interceptors. There have been plans to deploy missile interceptors to Greenland going all the way back to 2007 but Denmark has refused. Therefor owning Greenland or having a security agreement like what we have with the Marshall Islands or Palau where we do not have to have Denmark's approval to deploy troops or place assets is of vital importance for the defense of the USA.
ETA: Any ballistic missile attack from the Asia part of Russia or China would fly over Alaska or within range of missile interceptors from Alaska. So the USA needs Greenland to secure our eastern flank the way that Alaska secures our western flank.

Dude Trump wants Greenland to build his legacy as a president. Be the guy that bought Greenland. If it had had the military value he convinced you guys of, it would have been ours a long time ago.
This shite is about to cost $1 trillion bucks. Not worth it. Pay off the deficit.

No shite. Amazing the sheer number of people who don't understand the physics of projecting a round globe on a flat surface. Greenland is 1/6th the size of the USA.

Stop being weak. Man up and learn how to be a power
Like I said earlier, Alaska was cheap AF and a smart purchase. Greenland will not be.
If we get it cheap then cool, if not F that.

It'll ensure Gavin Newsom is the next president of the USA.

I posted the map to show its location, not the size....
Look at all these smart guys able to determine a map is wrong because of the size they made the country..
I'm pretty sure they made it that size to highlight its location, not it's size... You guys need to find better arguments...

I'm not going to bash you here. Just look up "rare earth minerals" please, and go from there.
The US doesn't do things that aren't profitable, with the exception of paying the salaries of Congress and bureaucrats.

Dude, it is a cult. If Trump says we need to absorb Greenland into the USA, despite the fact that we already have access through NATO and treaty, then that is what the cult is convinced we have to do.
If Trump said we need to invade Canada, then invading Canada would become priority number 1.
If Trump said we need to put hundreds of millions of dollars in a bank account in Qatar that only Trump personally controls, then that is what we (are actually doing).
If Trump dumps hundreds of millions of dollars of tax money into small newly organized companies controlled by his children, that is what we (are actually doing).
It it heresy to question the emperor.
