You need to register that damn thing and lock it away.

I lost all of my guns when a UFO landed in my yard. The aliens took my gunsafe, but at least they didn't probe me with some weird alien tool. Now I just use a slingshot.

If I ever own a gun again then I'd probably go with a nice, heavy .45 that felt good in my hand. I would also keep a shotgun handy. An AR15 wouldn't work well for the layout of my house, but if you have room to negotiate one then they would work well too.

I not a big gun guy, but I just thought a shotgun would be easier.

Hmm, perhaps you have more faith in the police than I do. I’d call that extremely naive but hey, you do you.

Gatling gun.

Stays mounted in my living room facing the front door. Jehovah's Witnesses love it when I open the door wide and tell them to smile.

I don’t know that there is a single best answer for this. By self defense do you mean home defense? A concealed carry gun to defend yourself against bad guys when you are In public places?

My carry gun is A Sig P938. The stock mags are six rounds but the grip is too short with one of those in to get a good grip. The seven round magazine is better. You can fill one with hollow points and the other with bonded tip in case you need to engage a Muslim in a car on a sidewalk. You could also mix rounds in a magazine, but I am not convinced of the wisdom of that yet.

Now for home defense I have a combination. A Beretta 92A1 with a crimson trace laser and a CX4, both use the same mags which can be found in capacities from 10-30.

It depends on what kind of self defense.

Kimber stainless custom .45 for home.
Kahr K-9 in stainless with ported barrel for carry.
Ruger Precision in .308 for antifa and rioting progressives to thin them out and then switch to an AR if they get too close.

I own several guns but none of them are for self defense. I consider a self defense gun 1 that's easily accessible and always loaded.
I have young children so no mater how much I train them and teach gun safety I just don't trust that situation
