In the aerial photos it appears to be a construction step ladder. It's behind the tree on the parking lot end. He probably went up on that end due to less people and being harder to spot going up. There is also a loading dock on that end where a ladder wouldn't stand out even if it was left out.

According to ABC there was no ladder used. Dude climbed the building itself. (I am assuming there was a permanent ladder on the building).

We might get a few more bits of info on the shooter... Then they will stop all info... It will just go away... We will never find out his motive... Much like the trans child killer Audrey Hale....

He was talking about up the slope of the roof.
You ever seen anyone "bear crawl" up a wall?

Doesn't matter. Already established that there was a shooter. As soon as cop got out of his line of fire he should have fired warning shots and keyed his radio.

there's one fuzzy shot of the rifle on the roof and it does look pretty well equipped; not a $500 ruger AR special with no mods.

Nobody's climbing a vertical metal walled building by hand and foot alone.

I thought the red hair guy the BBC interviewed said the "bear crawled" across the roof.

Exactly. When there is an imminent threat like that you have to act. Suppressive fire toward possible suspect. Discharge weapon in the air to draw awareness to the threat a begin the process of protecting the crowd and or protectee, something, anything.

pivot around a bit in that view.
i see dozens of wooden pallets in that google street view and the 'connectors' between the buildings are a good 1-2' shorter. i could prop up a pallet and climb up on that middle breezeway thing.

In the google maps link you posted. I know its from Nov 2023 but if you look to the right there is a HVAC repair van and truck there with ladders on them.

Yea, I'm not saying you can't get up there. Just that you aint clenching the metal ridges ( like a bear clenches a tree ) and scaling that wall.
Even if you could - when you get to the top of the wall you have to go one handed to get a hand on top.
