Have you checked out your 401k lately?
I dumped it all into a money market account. The goal is to preserve capital while riding the storm out.

I've increased my contribution %. The goal is to not stop buying for the next 30 years

What are you doing with your 401K right now? Do you have an option to short? I don't have that option. But I have an option to sit put and earn 0.42% in a money market account. That's way better than taking at least a 40% haircut we will see in the next ~3 months.

I'm only 10-15 years out from retirement (probably never retire because I like what I do). It's more important to preserve capital at this point then jump back in when the political/fiscal climate becomes more stable.

Let me clarify just in case...
Never take money out of 401(k). It’s all still in there. And more is always going in. It’s just that it’s out of mutuals and stocks and in bonds.

I went heavy into energy not long after Biden was elected, my portfolio has weathered this pretty well. Right now I'm not doing any buying, just putting money back while I wait for WEAT to take off (upcoming world food shortage).
I'm fully expecting the Dow to be below 24k before the end of the year. I'm holding off on buying right now so I'm just holding that investment cash for when the market looks to be near the bottom (which will likely be at least next year, possibly 2024) then buy more VUG, maybe some palladium, etc.

Good move.

I’ve never taken a loss because I’ve never sold at a loss. I’m in my 30’s with a consistent direct deposit every two weeks, why would I?

Lol the fact you think we are talking “business” confirms what I’ve suspected.

Ah so that’s your problem.
You think everyone is 30.

That the thing about investing. Everyone one has different timelines and different goals. What's right for you can be completely wrong for me and vice versa.

17 years from retirement, increased my contribution.
But i will not look at the balance. Doing that makes for emotional decisions.

I mean the guy I responded to in my first post in this thread literally said he has a ton of earning potential left

What makes you think I think we are talking business?
I just made a comment that doctors have a notorious reputation for being horrible at business.
You assume to much.
