I pointed this out a long time ago and got shot down because football players are young and "in shape".

Yeah, round is a shape too.

He's a defensive lineman. Do we go back to the days of 200lb lineman?

So the only football player in the country to die from this was playing football. statistics say he would have been better off playing. None of them died.

So Saban was right? He would have been safer had he been playing?

RIP to this young man. Let's make note of the obvious co-morbidity and how the Kommittee of Karen will completely brush over that, but let's also have compassion for people who are overwhelmed by whatever combination of issue and Covid happens to them.

Jordan McNair was a much better athlete and passed out and eventually died from "too much running". He came to camp out of shape and couldn't complete the first running drill of the day. Granted, their medical staff didn't handle it properly, but the point is that even top D1 football players aren't always in good health.

Not trying to disparage the young man since his death is a sad event, but from photos, he didnt look like he was in very good shape to begin with and I'm guessing sitting around not doing anything athletic probably was the worst thing for him. I don't know his overall health condition, but I am guessing his BMI was in the obese range, pushing extremely obese given in season photos.

As a note: CUP is not playing this season.

Not only that, the school was entirely online for the fall semester.

The way they have to frame this is that playing football means they are actively working out and staying health, constantly tested so they know within a day or two that someone is positive, have athletic medical resources at their disposal to help treat underlying symptoms. If the school is online only they wont have access to any of these, if they are in person but not playing, they would only have access to the athletic medical resources... MAYBE.

They also need to do research to hopefully show that the student athletes are less likely to get the virus while part of the football training program than the average student is or other schools football players that are not playing.

Unsurprisingly, it’s located in the town of California, PA. Which predates the state of California. There’s also an Indiana University of Pennsylvania. It’s located in the town Indiana PA. Don’t know if that town predates the state.

Fun fact, the coal mine located in California, PA produced that largest single lump of coal on record.

Fun fact #2. That picture is him in High School. I can only guess that he got bigger. That’s him in a Central Catholic uniform (Pittsburgh). The same high school that produced Dan Marino.
