the unraveling of the House Republican majority

Everyone should have seen this coming back in January with the original 21 holdouts who kept Kevin McCarthy from quickly securing the speaker's gavel.

The GOP is deeply fractured; it’s become personal for many of them.

Jordan wasn’t behind this. In fact he stood up (in hindsight OL this was savvy) and defended McCarthy vs. Gaetz. Then he backed Scalise when he won the straw poll.

I’m not saying Jordan will get the votes, but it’s wrong to pretend he was a part of the Gaetz group that started this.

I'm curious to see what concessions will be taken by Jordan for this. It seemed like he didn't even want the job at first. This is actually really unfortunate timing because the far right actually had great opportunity to ensure single issue voting, term limits voting, border security voting, J6 videos etc. Now that is all washed away. Please tell me he didn't cut a deal.

Jordan doesn't have the votes which everyone knew yesterday coming into today. McCarthy/Graves have been pimping McHenry from day 1 and now they are going to push him forward once Jordan drops out on Monday.

A compromise candidate of some sort would be my guess. McHenry, Emerett, Herb, Cole, etc.

He will not have the votes. McCarthy & crew have now burned all of the bridges so no one even closely associated with him has a chance in hell.

I don’t think he’s behind the Gaetz thing, but there is a lot of reporting that he did not quickly support Scaliese in the immediate aftermath of losing the vote. There is also reporting that his supporters are threatening to primary moderates who do not support him. If true, and who knows in this case, that is turning people off.

Quite possible you are correct. I’m just naming a few names I’ve seen. It will probably be someone out of left field that no one is suspecting most likely.

Am I the only one that is not concerned about this charade. I'm waiting to see who gets the democrats to vote for them so he can be primaried

It is actual disgusting to learn as fact how bad and self serving our congress is.

At what point does the money stop? Thought that already happened

Any downvoters care to explain what changes here? Are you guys that concerned with floor votes that won’t even get taken up by the Senate?

How so? I see it as literally no change. It’s also no change from McCarthy.

I disagree.
I suspect that Gaetz and his 7 rebels are threatening to allow the Dems to control the speaker position if he doesn’t get what he wants(an end to CR) on budget issues.
I’m with Gaetz

It’s understanding how this works. He can get 90% of those 55 who voted against him the second time and still not be there.

I understand how it works, it's like a junior high popularity contest among egotists. As more momentum starts swinging to "oh, HE'S the cool one" then all the fence-sitters rush to jump on the bandwagon (to say they were earlier in making the "right" choice before others, if for nothing else).

Unless Jordan does something monumentally foolish or suddenly bows out, it's his to lose right now just as it was Scalise's to lose (if he had stayed in the fight).

We shall see.

If he wins and holds the speakership for a while then you take the senate and get a good majority leader and president and good things happen.

As it stands right now, less bad things happen because of less go-along-to-get-along dem-lite leadership.

Alabama … set your representative @RepMikeRogersAL straight or primary him. We are sick of RINOs representing us and only representing their own needs.

I’m tired of these ”adults” being in charge. These ”adults” don’t know how to set a budget, these “adults” don’t know how to secure our border, there is a very long list of things these “adults” fail to do.

He would be a massive improvement over RINO McCarthy.
Jordan is a good communicator and doesn't give a damn what the media thinks of him.
