By this same logic, Christians worship more than God.

Religion is a philosophy and a system.

Atheists just use other philosophies and systems to become slaves to.

This.

The lack of religion in society creates a vacuum for the government or some other nefarious player to fill. Your rights don't come from a creator or are considered natural at that point.

No.. you just have created your own religion who’s doctrine is griping and complaining about religion.

This will always be an idiotic point. Trying to equate religion and irreligion only weakens the former.

Christians made a spiritual thing very legalistic, which is a failure.

Legalism is for small minds.

Romans 1:20–22 (NASB95): For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.
21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing to be wise, they became fools

How do you figure? If I adhere to a particular philosophy, then, say 5 years later, am confronted with something that really sours my opinion of said philosophy I can reject it and find a different philosophy that suits my understanding of reality better.

Christians cannot say the same. Divine revelation cannot be wrong. That's why it's dying right now (and while I don't think it's correct I do fear what looks to replace it). It's trying to navigate a 21st century world with, at best, 2,000 year old ideas.

So no, I don't think slaves get to select/change their masters. There's certainly some sort of relationship there, but it's not slave and master.

Such a canard by those types. Sooner or later you find that you are a "slave" ti something that guides your life. Religion, I find is the least burdensome of the masters....typically you don't wake up angry , for starters.

To quote the lyrics from one of my favorite songs ….

“I’m no longer a slave to fear; I am a child of God.”

Or this one:

Isaiah 41:10
New Living Translation
10 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.

Exactly the same as religious folks can do.

No difference whatsoever.

Yes, it can be, can't it?

Here are two definitions that might help clarify things:

"Religions" are based on belief & worship and reverence for a "God" or Idol -- which may be ANY Object or Idea.

"Religions" may include man-made doctrines rules, rituals, and dogma. So yes, by this definition, worship of the US Founders, the US Constitution OR "The Science" qualify. Ergo, all may be considered "Religions."

ON THE OTHERHAND:

True Christianity is based on a personal relationship with the Father and Jesus Christ and way of life that emulates the teachings and Gospel message of Jesus Christ.

True Christianity is NOT an adherence to sets of "religious" rules, rites, and rituals (again, like Scientism or Politically religious OR like Democrat, Republican...or even the Sports "religious," like, "I'm a Yankee Fan!")

You're a slave to any kind of system. Our world is inhuman, systematic and vapid.

Philosophies are man made, the Scripture is divine revelation. HUGE difference.

How many times have you heard Christians admit to not understand an issue but kept on believing anyways?

You're a slave to divine revelation. You're not a slave to another man's mistakes in philosophy.

Christianity isn't unique in making special claims about their religion or their flavor of god. It's just as banal as the rest.

I get the point being made but why not add a graphic of SECRant next to the weed. If you are going to look down at people and imply they are slaves to things other than God, you should admit that your 61k+ posts here might mean you are a slave to this website. About 13 posts a day every day for 13 years.

Where does it say "Seven Deadly Sins". We are the ones who designated "Seven Deadly Sins".
