30 year old white women didnt have political power. They, like always, will just mimic pop culture and be obnoxiously loud about it. They didnt shut down states...Boomer and Xer GOP Governors did though.

Dont make a thread about how "tough" Boomers are, then blame shift to 30 year old slop brained women

2 things resonate with me on your list. First of all the traveling at a young age bit. At 12 me and my older brother traveled to Des Moines from New Orleans by bus which today is unwise for sure. Secondly at 15 me and four friends drove to Panama City for Easter break and was able to survive a week while renting our own rooms. These again are not something a 15 year old could do

Need to add Gen X to that list as well...

Gen Xers were the first "latch key" kids...

I see that the revisionist history has already begun. It was the States that had the authority to enforce lockdowns...and boy ol boy did those GOP governors lock us down just like Dem ones did
The damage was lockdowns over time. Dems were far worse.

You are right about policy error in shutting down all ages instead of just focusing on the >62y/o group. It was discussed and advocated multiple times on this board at the time.

But of course your extrapolation to boomers "forcing young people to stay inside for two years to protect themselves" misses the mark, because boomers at the time did not fall into the age demographic you're referencing.

I'm not a boomer and all of these apply to my childhood

Boomers love to pat themselves on the back for literally anything.

I'm a boomer born in 1955. I paid for and received my ChE degree and worked for 43 years all the way from an entrance level engineer to Director of a global chemical company. If ANYONE during my years in management (including chemical plant manager) tried or thought to sit around and wait to retire I would fire them without blinking an eye. My belief is that you would never survive.

This is the funny thing. Boomers sitting at companies waiting to retire are basically being given participation trophies.

They got lapped years ago by younger workers but age discrimination is frowned upon so they just sit there.

In my experience my worst employees have been either Boomers or the current generation coming out of high school. The young ones get some benefit of the doubt for their youth, but its a stark difference from young people even just 10 or so years ago coming out.

Address the OP. You have no clue as to the particulars of the "ones in this thread."

Now there is a discussion point. What things peculiar to boomers made them your "worst employees"?

Entitlement is the big one. "I've worked here X years and blah blah blah" like that's a license to have fewer responsibilities than someone else.

Inability to take criticism. Not simply unwillingness... I find them completely unable to take it.

Lack of adaptability.

Lack of accountability, but that ties into the first point somewhat.

If someone younger does something wrong, its problems with their "generation", but if you said something about their generation to them it would cause a trip straight to HR.

I will end by saying most people of any generation are great, they come to work when they are supposed to and want to do a good job when they are there. But the bad apples are usually in one of those two groups I laid out.

1) Boomers grew up when "participation trophies" didn't exist
I remember talking to my neighbor, who's in his 70s, about youth sports today.

He chuckled when I mentioned how every kid on my son's soccer team gets a trophy at the end of the season, regardless of how they performed.

"Back in my day," he said, "you got a trophy if you won. Period."....

What was the generation that started giving all of the kids trophies. The older generations love talking about how soft kids these days are because they all get a trophy, but it wasn't the kids that started the process
