That's not new as ban states allow retired officers to keep assault weapons. It was cheap way to get cop leadership to sign on the AWB back during the 90s. I don't agree with that practice one bit.

It's not a universal thing, but we do have some totalitarian-leaning dudes in LE, that seem to think they are quite special. I've also seen LE come out and call for bans on the sale and possession of body armor and other things. They are no different than the David Hoggs of the world.

The nearby suburb of Highland Park passed a similar ban in 2013, which was contested as unconstitutional by one of the city's residents and the Illinois State Rifle Association. Ultimately, however, the ordinance was upheld in court.

WTF? No way that is an acceptable decision from the court. That has to be a joke.

I don't get it either. The Constitution, especially the Bill of Rights, supersedes every state and local ordinance in the country.

This has been planned in advance by the Dems - they picked the locality and know ahead of time what line of judges would be involved in subsequent challenges, all so they can build artificial precedent.

Anyone that can't grasp that Dems are enemies of the Constitution just isn't paying attention.

No reason for ordinary citizens to own one of these killing tools, anyway. You wanna shoot one, join the military.

No reason for ordinary citizens to cut and cook their own food, anyway. You wanna eat, go to the mess hall.

You would be surprised if you knew how many people are tired of these mass shootings. Gotta start someplace if they are to be eliminated.

Not surprised at all. Who isn't tired or all shootings?

Tell me has any gun control law ever lowered crime?

I hope someone posts the names and addresses of the council members who voted for this and the mayor....so the "assault rifle" owners can personally deliver their weapons to them.

It wasn't upheld, it just wasn't heard. That'll be changing when Kennedy gets replaced.
