Without you being more specific, I have to ask, do you think that is meant to represent a straight line (ie "men came from monkeys")?

Be it straight or be it crooked... it doesn't work.

The Sumerians pretty much straight up tell us where we came from. We are the result of a genetics program that lasted quite awhile and had several failures, which resulted in worldwide calamities.

I've never trusted the Sumerians.

So, it's branched.

Still doesn't work.

Our brains are fancy radios.

What's crazy is that a lot of stuff that we consider to be "real" is just interpretations that out brains make from outside stimuli. Take "sound" to be an example. Sound doesn't actually exist. It's just vibrations in the air that are brains interprets as one.

I agree. The graphic you posted is a poor attempt to visually represent evolution and has been widely used to misrepresent evolution as "men coming from monkeys." Luckily the theory isn't derived from that picture.

I can’t be any more literal. Good luck with an evolutionary mind set where two reproductive compatible beings evolve at the same scientific impossibility of a time line over a billion plus years. Within 30/40 years of each or so anyway.

You don’t understand evolutionary theory. It’s not me who needs the good luck. Most of you are tilting at windmills. You don’t even understand what you’re arguing against. Look no further than Sally’s Human on this page who thinks that evolution proposes that we came from monkeys.

I picked a graphic.

You pick a graphic. Still doesn't work.

Because that’s not what the theory says. Just like TexasForever, you’re tilting at windmills.

The graphic you chose suggests you believe the theory of evolution claims men came from monkeys. Forgive me if that's incorrect but you haven't given me anything else to work with.

Why doesn't this one work? Please be somewhat more specific. "It doesn't work" isn't an argument.

One of us wrong about how we got here. If I’m wrong, you and I will never know. If you’re wrong, we will.

Enjoy the weekend. We don’t get enough of one.

The fact that the theory of evolution makes no claims about how we got here either way suggests you're wrong on the specific topic of evolution, at minimum.

Thank you for the graphic.

I find it interesting it replicates, in a way, the 3-6 day of creation, in order.

No, not quite, I do understand the common ancestor claim.

Honestly.. it's hard to read. Also, it shows branches but not roots. I could be reading it wrong, I'm three glasses in and that's my first exposure to the chart.

I'm not interested in disputing religion and come from a deeply religious family full of good people, so I'm happy if you can find parallels that help make evolution more compatible with your faith, whatever that may be.

Like I said, the posting of that graphic suggests belief in the "man from monkeys" bastardization of the theory popular with creationist. I'm glad that isn't the case.

No worries. Hopefully it sparks further interest for you. There are plenty of other good examples online.

It is a common style graphic. Not just among ID people. Where did such graphs originate? I hunted a descent friendly graphic and that's what google spit out.

Evolution is not compatible with my faith. Adaptation is, but not macro evolution. I did not slink from the slop... I descended from that which was "fearfully and wonderfully made". So did you.
