I had someone here in Trinidad ask me that question: "Why is everyone in DC afraid of Trump, both parties?". This goes far beyond any partisan politics Ive ever seen.
I think they are genuinely afraid there might be some accountability for once. Heck I dont think most care if they continue to thief, just, at least, do your job while you are at it.
