Context: India and Pakistan fought two short, but intense wars in 1965 and 1971. The 1965 war featured the largest tank battle since the WWII Battle of Kursk. Neither country is on par with the US, obviously, but they're several rungs above Saddam's Iraqi army in training, equipment and motivation. They're quite capable of wrecking shite and if this goes on for very long they will.

Highly doubt they go nuclear. Pakistan is run by their version of the CIA, India is on a upwards trajectory and doesnt want to be a global pariah
I would bet on a intense, few week long conventional conflict, where India tries to settle the Kashmir issue once and for all

Seems like the best thing for everyone would be an independent Kashmir state. Or maybe at least semi-independent like Kurdistan. I dunno.

They already tried that. The king (Indian version of that saying) of Kashmir tried to do that when the UK was dividing up the British Raj when they left, but he was threatened by both sides and decided to throw in with India
This can only be settled on the battlefield. Millenia of hatred, Muslims started invading the Indian subcontinent well before they started pushing the Christians out of Asia minor

India will end up mopping the floor with the Pakistanis, if things go to far. Paki's best hope to keep it regional in Kashmir.

Fair, Im admittedly pretty ignorant on the region’s history. Most of my knowledge has come from various Pakistani and Indian cab drivers I’ve had over the past couple of weeks
