Ideology. When Mel was shopping "The Passion of The Christ", not one studio even gave it a second thought . It went against every thing they stood/stand for. The movie wound up being the highest grossing R rated movie in US history.

I was just clearing up that the raw ratings were not the problem. Raw revenue wasn't the problem. The show was too expensive and couldn't be made profitable, at least not easily.

How is she connecting defunding PBS with the cancellation of Colbert? Was there a part of the recent recissions bill that was passed that said... "Oh yeah, we also command CBS to cancel Colbert." Did I just miss that?
