sad to hear. Jackson is on a very bad path, and has been for a while.

Seattle is doing well??
Seattle has more Fortune 500 companies and jobs than the whole state of Louisiana

They can only do well before the "problems" overcome the progress. Austin is slowly becoming another homeless mecca a la San Francisco. Add to that all of the illegal/sanctuary nonsense and there's only one direction it can go --> the way of Jackson & BR.

Wasn't being a smart arse dude..
I'd say it kind of equals out in the end..
Yes, Louisiana is atrocious; no argument from me there.

He should have gotten off with no sentence. Considering the treatment of blacks this country historically has shown, it's perfectly justifiable for that young man to feel the rage at the sight of a white man.
Being Mississippi, the white man was probably attacking his culture by offering him a job or something.

There has to be more to this story; please tell me this isn't the total truth?
I can't believe the injustice if it is.
If that were my family member there would be justice served somewhere out there.. Yes, I said it CIA. Go freak yourself. My family would never be relegated to such an injustice if this is the total truth of the matter.

The difference between those cities and jackson is as broad as the difference between Japan and Burma

I live in Clinton Ms. New houses are being built here at a spectacular rate. I live in a subdivision off of Pinehaven Drive and within a mile of where I live 2 new subdivisions are being built. Windsor Plantation with 173 $300K+ houses planned, Cedar Hill with 73 $300K to $500K houses planned and expansion in Copper Creek ongoing. All the ring cities around Jackson (Clinton, Ridgeland, Madison and Brandon) are growing rapidly. Whites and Blacks are getting out of Jackson as fast as they can.

And leaving nothing but the poorest and most criminal element possible left in the city. I may sound crazy but I feel within 20 years the black population in jackson will be over 95%

This is the brand of justice coming to EBRP in the very near future. Watch Jackson to see the path of BR.

We live in Madison. The population has tripled since 2000. 94% white. There is still a ton of new construction.
Ridgeland made the mistake of allowing apartments to be built and the area of Ridgeland east of I-55 is suffering because of it. West of I-55 is awesome. Great development, high end subdivisions, etc. But the East side where the transients live is quickly becoming a smaller Jackson.
The one thing it has over Jackson is Madison County judges. Some thug once got a seven figure bond for firing a gun in a parking lot. A guy got off easy for raping his infant daughter in Jackson.

THIS and the crime element of Jackson is slowing moving north of County Line Rd.

Jackson is a much smaller city that those you mentioned; so it didn't take as long to become the democratic wonderland that it is now. I remember staying at my aunt's house in the late 90s; she lived in "the rich part of town" by Jackson Academy and the Jackson country club. I drove through that part of town in 2015 and except for 2 or 3 little subdivisions, it looked worse than the ghettos on the Caribbean island that I went to school on. If things do not change, I would be willing to bet that in 20 - 25 years Austin, Portland, Seattle, Nashville will look a lot more like Jackson, or they will go the way of NOLA, Brooklyn, and most european cities with nice city centers but just outside of that will be rougher than shaving with a cheap razor and cold water.

Ridgeland is trying to rectify their mistakes. The Obama administration shut down their efforts.

Nope, I feel the same way, especially all the people that hate our country so much. Move.
