I love how divisive and tribalized we are. The dims are inexplicably rallying and gaining support for the midterms on a platform that's to the left of Karl Marx when they should be getting buried for good, and we're here in the mud flinging shite at ourselves.

This is why we can't have nice things. Yay us. This country is done, and we're to blame. We could have prevented this.

Did he discuss how he himself was clamoring for the Epstein files, then Bondi said they were on her desk and OMG they're incredible, then released a bunch of bullshite through 'influencers' then saying they'd release the files in stages, then saying they were a democrat hoax?

I mean, I'm sure he mentioned some general bullshite to placate the clapping seals, but did he actually go through the above progression and explain how that was totally organic and normal?

You think dismantling the deep state that has been built over the last 60 years should have occurred in 6 months?

Who drives that? Who, at the national level, makes everything personal and resorts to insults and scorched earth every time they feel slighted? And I'm not talking about his attacks on the left, I'm talking about his attacks on the right. It's all personal, not policy, and his followers just mimic him and this is the result.

On the bright side, this place isn't real life. People who follow politics closely are like any other hobbyists and it's easy to think the rest of the world "gets" your hobby. I've heard a lot of in-person political discussions where people disagree and it doesn't resemble internet shite-slinging. I've never heard "panican" or "trumptard" in an actual conversation.

So in fairness, this "him" that you speak of, doesn't always react in a scorched-earth manner. Too often? Probably. But not always. We've all seen instances where he could have gotten dirty in the mud flinging and just completely stayed out of it. And conversely, we've seen him go full-tard when he easily could have stayed out of something. But blaming everything on "him" is folly. Blame the system. And that's coming from someone who has been VERY openly critical of Trump the last couple of months.

I've had some pretty heated discussions IRL. But that's because people want to debate on the grounds that their opinion is fact or policy. What does the Constitution say and what does the law say? Those are the points I argue. And the response is almost always an auto-programmed MSNBC talking point or some emotional ebullition that seems to be directly channeling the masticating bovine on The View.

Very few people want to debate the facts. I hear, "I don't agree with the Electoral College, it doesn't align with a democracy at all". Well, it's literally the foundation of this country and the only thing that ensures that the little guy gets a voice, and this country isn't a "democracy", but a Constitutional Republic. I hear, "Oh, Trump is most certainly anti-immigrant and not just anti-illegal-immigrant." Well, he married an immigrant, his son-in-law is a Jew, and he stood on stage next to Rosa Parks and Mohammed Ali to receive the Ellis Island Award for his efforts to help immigrants advance in this society.

Most people IRL don't want to debate or even have a conversation because the "ignorant" don't care to speak up about topics they don't fully understand, and those who consider themselves "political" are mostly hardliners for one side or the other, or they're the insufferable "transcendentalist" that believe themselves immune to the human condition and just says that "EVERYONE is wrong" except for them, though they don't have an argument other than that.

In these ways, real life very much mirrors the tribalism seen on this board. It's just much less likely for people to talk shite face to face because the mouth can't run with a broken jaw, and also that an anonymous platform gives the meek an opportunity to actually speak their mind or pretend they're some badass.

I'm not. The acrimony between right & left would exist regardless of how nice or nasty Trump is. But you specifically were addressing the divide between people on the right, and you even specifically brought up childish insults. That's how the current leader of the right acts, and it's reflected by his more enthusiastic supporters. People are responsible for how they respond, but he sets the tone for the current sandbox we're in. If you can't see that I don't know what to tell you.
