Prime example of not knowing your customer base there. The average cajun catholic is not on board with being told what to do in general.
The church has seriously disappointed me throughout this whole ordeal. I really wanted the catholic church to be my citadel of sanity.

What? The Catholic Church covering up bad publicity? You don’t say
That's what I'm thinking. How are there so many people acting like this is a surprise? Its catholics doing catholic things.

What school was that going on at? At Catholic High & St. Edward in New Iberia the kids in every grade and class were separated from each other all day every day unless there was a school gathering and even then they were separated. My oldest at Catholic high barelybif ever got to even speak with his best friends the entire school year because they weren’t allowed to play at recess or even talk and commune together.
That wasn’t the case at Opelousas catholic. My kid didn’t even have to mask in the classroom only common areas.
The comment was more about this year. From the way that everything has been explained no masks outside but inside they have to have masks.

Maybe we can pray it all away?

It’s my understanding that ASH and Berchman’s will not be doing masks. They are not subject to the edicts of the Lafayette diocese.

The church is in lock step with JBE. It’s creepy and almost assured to be about money.
Plus…masks are only an authoritative flex by our leaders. Kids don’t need masks.

If you can confirm this it would be great. I have a meeting with the bishop next week.

Hard to believe that they are actually blocking discourse. That shows how ashamed they are of this decision.
Not a fan of blocking comments.
But I wonder how much of them are actually constructive discourse vs people threating them and just screaming at them / belittling them.

Every one that I saw was a reasonable comment. I understand that if people were posting bullshite. But clearly they are blocking all, there is only 3 comments all supporting the mandate

All I did was ask them if they are deleting comments and they deleted my comment and blocked me. The few comments I saw before they were deleted were all people who were respectfully disagreeing.

That stinks.
But... the Church has never been confused with a democracy...

They posted on their facebook that they strongly encourage everyone to wear masks to church. But our kids gotta wear masks all day at school?

What does it matter unless you support silencing the opinions of others?

Biden is pro-abortion but wear a mask because he says to.

I’m from the diocese of Lafayette. I was intrigued by the closing paragraph of their press release. That they were “independent”. My first thought was “Nothing screams independence like following a government mandate to the last letter”. Seems sort of contrived. That is all. Thanks! Fight the good fight.

They’ve either hidden or deleted the negative comments.
That’s standard practice. No one wants to read negativity
Remember, social media is usually run by those who care about an entitie’s image
