AS a New Orleanian, we’re in some trouble. Latoya has zero vision and certainly no ability to come up with fresh ideas that will move the city forward. The only way she might be better than Mitch is that she’s too dumb to be as slick as him.

I feel sorry for these cities that are voting in progressive community organizers as mayors only to further accelerate their doom.

My fellow citizens are largely cognitively deficient and corruptible. Elections are reflections of the voters, functional citizens can't flee and expect the dysfunctional replacements to vote the way they would like.
African-Americans prefer African governance.

Cantrell is going to awesome. She’ll continue to move New Orleans in the right direction just like her predecessor.

What on Earth is that, rent price controls? I'm not sure that can even be done, legally.

Could be worse. Could have elected Sharon Broome.

Plenty cities have rent control. What is does is screw the landlord.

By screw the landlord, you really mean the property owners by devaluing the property and surrounding properties.

What Louisiana city would you rank as the best run?

Latoya-New Orleans. The words just mesh well together.

Cantrell used city credit card for $8,952 she later repaid from campaign, personal accounts
quote:
New Orleans mayoral candidate LaToya Cantrell and her staff used her office's taxpayer-financed credit cards to cover almost $4,350 in purchases she repaid from her campaign funds -- sometimes years later, a review of her spending records show. Cantrell also charged to her City Council credit card $4,602 in meals and other expenses that she repaid with her own money after she entered the mayor's race.
quote:
Cantrell rejected those allegations in an interview Friday (Oct. 27), saying she had not acted inappropriately. There were no council regulations or policies that barred her from using campaign funds or personal money to pay for credit card charges that reflected her work as a councilwoman, she said. She said it was her habit to dip into her campaign and personal bank accounts to keep her from overshooting the expense budget for her council office, which she said has been reduced to $30,000 a year during her time in City Hall.

Lafayette is the only city in Louisiana with a population above 100,000 that doesn't have truth to power leadership.

are there any more statues for her to tear down? also what is Mitch up to? Is he running for POTUS?

Difficult to project what the future will be under her leadership without sounding judgmental. But what we already know about her could provide some indication.
She's straight outta Compton with a decidedly indifferent, irresponsible attitude toward finances - both personal and those of taxpayers.
Will be assuming office while under legislative audit, is a political chameleon of the first order, and a "graduate" of the Aspen Institute (a think tank with a mission statement oriented around U.N. policies), whose fellow "graduate" just ran the city for 8 years, and who himself is the favorite to take over the reins of the institute.
So there will be a seamless transition of power, with a continuation of his attitude and policies, which she assuredly will expand upon according to her whim at the time, or the amount of pressure she's under.
Obviously there's little or nothing about her that is frowned upon by a majority of the Leftists who now dominate this parish.
