Politics and sentiment mostly. You have tools like Twitter, YouTube and message boards like this so the rhetoric is amplified and a vocal minority gets on and feels the need to expound.
The Founders were by and large educated men and high minded and also quite revolutionary in sentiment when it came to governing philosophy. We like to take the musings of a minority of utter fools as examples of today's climate. But the revolution had crazies and fools that people like Hamilton and others had to keep in check so as not to short circuit the cause.
Of course the press was not so varied back then as it is today.

That's not really close to true. Jefferson went to William & Mary. Hamilton and Madison went to Princeton. John Jay went to Columbia. John Adams and John Hancock went to Harvard. Washington's formal schooling ended by about 16. Paine was taught by his Preacher father in Scotland, Patrick Henry had no advanced schoing . Neither did Franklin.
They took immense advantage of the resources at hand. Hamilton in particular, he was poorer than poor, he was just unbelievably smart. Washington was of no great intellect, but he was of the highest temperament, and that made him great and formidable.

Those people are of the next generation. The people that founded America were their dads and grandfathers and they graduated in England. America got independence in 1776. But it was founded 100 years earlier.

I would LOVE for someone like this to read the Federalist Papers and give me a book reports without AI
To read those and think that a lot of these people (especially the main characters) back then weren’t educated is nuts.

That's really stretching it and moving the goal posts. Nice attempt at crawfishing though
