This was my first thought.
I've been having to deal with this sort of decision with both parents of late. Neither wants to be kept alive in a vegetative state so why should the state force it on a baby that has no chance?

Not defending the results, but how many of the people voting against this measure did so because they tied the penalties to any health care professions into the decision.
Would be curious what percentage of those voting against this measure either work in healthcare, or have family members in the health care industry and were worried about some sort of overreach

The problem with this one was the wording of the measure. It was very confusing, and shite like that will receive a no vote from many. Plus most people have an initial reaction to vote no on any new measures unless something about it is compelling enough to vote yes. This is on whoever wrote this stupid law, not the voters.
Proposals which limit the options of families and physicians will ALWAYS draw some opposition, even from people who generally sympathize with the overall goal.

Taking a child who is going to die without being kept alive artificially off of life support is NOT - in any way shape or form - the same as not even trying to save a child that might be saved.
With this vote, why can't a Montana mother just kill her two year old if she decides she doesn't want it? What about a mouthy teenager?
Anyone who supports this is just plain evil and stupid.
