I read the other day that AOC went from being a bartender to worth about 32 million in a few years. There are many ways for these politicians to make money if they want.

Proof that people will believe anything.

I read some OnlyFan stars make over $100k. Maybe she just wants a new niche. She could do naked pull-ups.

MTG is right. They aren't.

Proof?

They take the $$$ and sell out America and its high tech secrets/weaponry projects for 10%, a case of Coors, bag o' chips, and secks with ChiCom agents.

So, if they were paid double or triple their current salaries, they wouldn't become treasonous assholes that sell out the country?

Is this the wealthier version of "they're just stealing necessities!!!"

To hear anyone from an organization with a 7% approval rating complain - about anything - is just absurd.

Lol she already is. You dumbasses just worship her and refuse to believe it. Her 2022 portfolio was up over 6% while the S&P500 was down 19%.

They should be on commission and paid by the accomplishment goals set forth by their constituents.

I think she's actually right. If congressional salaries were $1.5M instead of $150K or whatever it is, I think that would be for the better. We might end up with actually qualified people and not just egomaniacs and/or rich trust fund types who can afford to do it. Also, in a lot of rural areas, the higher paycheck might lure quality people who normally go off to college and just never come back to their locality. Also, might make the marginal congressperson harder to buy off.

The actual dollars in play are tiny. And it's not like we're happy with Congress at current pay levels. Think about this: what if we LOWERED if from here. Do you really think that would help?

I mean, if we’re being honest, being a member of Congress is pretty much the only way folks like Sheila Jackson Lee, Clay Higgins, and AOC could find a job that pays $175/year.

Hell, look at Kevin McCarthy‘s resume. arse kissing politics is the only thing he could have done with his life to make his current income.

That's worthy of consideration. If they are well paid then more qualified people might consider the job.

And it might make them harder to buy off.
