I agree. I was pointing out the absurdity of his assumption that homosexual males are more likely to molest your kids.

Yeah I agree that it is an absurd notion. I was just trying to present reasonable conclusion (which I figured you agreed with).

The majority agree with me. In poll after poll and election after election. Then the losers judge shop and the will of the people expressed at the ballot box is usurped.

But the real issue here IMO is the persecution of those in favor of traditional marriage. If the tables were turned and the pro gay marriage people were being similarly assaulted for holding their views, the uproar would be epic.

Polls have shown otherwise (recently that is). How are those that believe in traditional marriage being persecuted? At the very least, it seems like too strong of a word. I mean I see people insulting each other on both sides.

I beg to differ. If I fire someone for wearing an "I can't breathe!" T Shirt what do you think would happen?

Just fire them for wearing a T-shirt to work.

Temp, the reason these issues are passionately debated is because sin complicates everything. If it was so clean and clear as you suggest it would not have the conflict it has from the beginning.

Ridiculous. It has to do with fallacy and inability to comprehend the role of one's private religious values in larger society.

quote:

You don't have the birth right to marry the same sex anymore than declaring polygamy "is a right".

If the majority say no, its a no. Its still a civilization.

Truly terrifying. Thank Satan for the courts and the Constitution.

Listen to me carefully. I really don't care what some 2000 year old book that is filled with errors says about anything. It is an interesting piece for the literature of the time and has some interesting parables, but as far as anything else goes, I really don't base my moral code on it.

And it really is clear. Constitution trumps the bible every day of the week and every second of the day in this country.

quote:

YOU are being pretty narrow and hard lined on the issue.

Actually no. The FACT is the constitution trumps the bible. It really is that simple.

quote:

You don't have the birth right to marry the same sex anymore than declaring polygamy "is a right".

Actually, most feel that this is exactly the case. And as the constitution actually gets applied, we are seeing just this.

quote:

If the majority say no, its a no. Its still a civilization.

Actually, this is just wrong. If 55 percent said no to abolishing slavery, and slavery should be allowed in this country, do you feel the majority trumps the constitution? Just like the constitution trumps the bible, it also trumps the majority. The majority can not pass something that is unconstitutional. It just wouldn't be allowed.

And this really is pretty basic stuff. You do understand this do you not?

So you actually don't think God looks down at fools and idiots and categorizes the as such ? " A fool has said in his heart there is no God".

Facts are facts, there are idiots in the world there are fools in the world, there are lazy people in the world, a just description is not in insult but rather a truth told.

If you are a pervert you are a pervert. If you are a fool you are a fool.

Why do people like you want to sanitize the facts ?

Jesus called out the Pharisees as being of their father the devil.

There have been cases of people losing jobs because of their support of traditional marriage. Others are subjected to character assassination by the media.

Just read some of the crap in here. Enough said.

And here is a tough question. Do any of you REALLY think that the people that wrote the Constitution meant for it to be interpreted to give gays the right to marry? REALLY?

You know better than that.

Truth hurts, doesn't it? This last election should serve as a warning, people are starting to tire of the left.

Maybe he looks down on "fools and idiots." Maybe he also looks down on those that judge others as "fools and idiots" and are generally disrespectful to others.

So you are saying I could be fired for being a Baptist? Or a Republican? Right. See you in court on that one.

I think it's how people present their beliefs that generally get them in trouble. For example, cordially disagreeing with one's boss about any issue is different than forcefully disagreeing with insults.

The reason they are debated is because people have different views on them. "Sin" is a term created by people to vilify behaviors which they disagree with.

Only in scenarios in which the majority agrees with your viewpoint. The second society moves beyond religious dogma on an issue, you instantly cry oppression.

You realize there are large numbers of republicans who believe homosexual marriage should be legalized, right? Libertarians also hold that view, and in reality most who call themselves libertarian are just fiscal conservatives who have tired of the religious right's insistence on social values.
