Saw it not knowing anything. It's a piece of crap. Not serious. not funny
and not entertaining.

Agreed. I just read an article that the characters are a compilation of sorts from many different people. The tech guy for example is a little of Elon Musk/Tim Cook/Zuckerberg.
Streep is a little of Trump/Obama/W/Hilliary
That's exactly what I saw, I didn't see any obvious parallels to anybody. Streep and Jonah Hill could have been any administration that is more worried about publicity and spin than the issues at hand, and the tech mogul being any number of the weird as hell tech guys from the past and present. From the reviews on the movie/TV board I expected to be beaten over the head with left vs right but other than what I read and the well known political affiliations of the actors and director, I really wouldn't have thought anything about it. It just seemed like a B movie level disaster movie to me

I 'seen it'. Orange Man Bad. Okay way to kill some time after 2 bloody Marys

Is it me or is this totally fricking backwards? Jesus frick this pisses me off.
Yes, it is mostly backwards. But there are nice subtle twist throughout the movie which kind of blurs the lines just enough so that it’s enjoyable, or at least I thought it was. Very well acted and also scary too because I can see this sort of thing actually happen.
Also noticed the head tech guy was also the creator of the Oasis in ready player one.

I saw Streep as Hillary and the white haired guy as Biden. J Hill as Biden crack head son. He was an addict in the movie too. Plus the media backed up the administration at every move.

It’s amazing how it almost never fails. They literally will show you who they really are, and then try to portray the other side as being such trash.
It’s like they’re exhibitionists, and then they think by brazingly reveal themselves they can con everyone into believing that it’s Conservatives and not them.

The movie was quite funny, especially the back and forth between Jonah Hill and Jennifer Lawrence.

I thought , for a Netflix movie, it was great. Some of you guys are way too sensitive. They made fun of conspiracy theorists, both politics parties, Morning talkshows like Strahan and Rippa. If you guys didn't notice the "bill gates guy" , who I thought reminded me more of Steve Jobs, was based on Biden. The way he spoke, the dentures, how he leaned in to smell the lady who was speaking.
They pretty much captured the craziness that has become the United States. Its politics, its social media, talk shows, young diva singers. I thought they knocked it out of the park. If you were offended, BY A MOVIE, then it hit too close to home for some of you.

Jesus. I hope it destroys their careers.
Unfortunately, it won't.
*I've thought Dicaprio is overrated since I saw Titanic. I see from the description they got the "Leo scream" or whatever they call it in.

Of course. The hi tech guy was sniffing the hair of a woman. I thought of Biden.
And there was a lot of making fun of overly conscious mental health.
But small minded people love to get triggered.

I watched it. Wouldn’t pay to watch it but I found it strikingly similarly to our society and government today. I mean if a massive comet was truly hurling towards earth that’s exactly the response I would expect from our government.
I as well though they blurred the lines enough. For instance one picture is of President hugging Bill Clinton.

Is the potential reality of extraterrestrials too overwhelming — or too frightening — for our human brains to absorb? By Will DowdUpdated December 29, 2021, 10:31 a.m.
quote:
And yet, in the inundation of 2021 news, these UFO milestones barely registered as a blip on the public’s radar. Was the potential reality of ETs too overwhelming — or too frightening — for our human brains to absorb? Or was our attention simply exhausted by political polarization and the raging pandemic?
quote:
Diana Walsh Pasulka, a professor of religious studies at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, who wrote about extraterrestrial intelligence and technology in her 2019 book, American Cosmic, spoke to me about the public’s muted reaction to UFO news. She attributes our collective yawn to science fiction movies, which have primed us to accept the existence of ETs. At some level, we already believe.
Pasulka calls Kubrick a true visionary. Not only did 2001 prepare us for encountering extraterrestrials in the form of their mystifying technology, but the director showed us exactly how this subconscious programming would happen — namely, through a black monolith, which some film scholars believe represents the cinema screen. But I believe we can — and should — recapture an appropriate sense of wonder when it comes to the possibility of extraterrestrial life. And to do this, we must lift our eyes from the miniature black monoliths we carry with us everywhere. We must remember to look up at the sky.

Noticed that. Liberals can’t even realize that they are who they hate. Pretty big spin in that movie.

Most films are just narrative projection, it's been this way since the '30s.
Hence why the FBI was so concerned with the communist infiltration of the film industry back then.
Sad part, there's nothing you can do. Just don't emulate film or film heroes.
Good part, enjoy the movie and keep catching the bullshite that you see. At least you are aware of it.

There is an asteroid that is supposed to come between the earth and our satellites in 2029. It’s supposed to hit the earth 7 years later

Are you talking about this one? Looks like they revised their projections on that.

The near-Earth object was thought to pose a slight risk of impacting Earth in 2068, but now radar observations have ruled that out.
After its discovery in 2004, asteroid 99942 Apophis had been identified as one of the most hazardous asteroids that could impact Earth. But that impact assessment changed as astronomers tracked Apophis and its orbit became better determined.
Now, the results from a new radar observation campaign combined with precise orbit analysis have helped astronomers conclude that there is no risk of Apophis impacting our planet for at least a century.
Estimated to be about 1,100 feet (340 meters) across, Apophis quickly gained notoriety as an asteroid that could pose a serious threat to Earth when astronomers predicted that it would come uncomfortably close in 2029. Thanks to additional observations of the near-Earth object (NEO), the risk of an impact in 2029 was later ruled out, as was the potential impact risk posed by another close approach in 2036. Until this month, however, a small chance of impact in 2068 still remained.
When Apophis made a distant flyby of Earth around March 5, astronomers took the opportunity to use powerful radar observations to refine the estimate of its orbit around the Sun with extreme precision, enabling them to confidently rule out any impact risk in 2068 and long after.
