There was absolutely no reason for Putin to invade Ukraine.

He had lots of reasons. Very understandable reasons, at that. That doesn’t mean I agree with doing it, but I surely understand it.

When the Soviet Union collapsed, Ukraine had a bunch of nukes. America, UK and the West promised to guarantee Ukraine’s sovereignty if they gave up the nukes. They gave up their nukes.

If they still had those nukes, do you think Russia would be attacking?

Which side has strengthened since the US touched off the war in Ukraine? Is the US stronger than it was before? no. Are Russia and China stronger? yes.

Russia is certainly poorer. Saying otherwise is tomfoolery. Wars are not fought to get richer DURING the war; it’s the peace that follows that matters.

For some reason old curmudgeons like you - and the ones in the US government - think Russia began in 1918 Soviet Russia and is still Soviet today. Russia began in 862. That's right, 862. If you want nitpick, you can use the start of the Grand Duchy period in 1283. Russia is old. Seventy-three years of Soviet Russia is a gnat on an elephant's arse in Russia's history. I'll tell you what Putin wants and what he's going to get. He's going to get back the Russian territory that the piece of human garbage Vladimir Lenin gave to Ukraine in 1922, and what Nikita Khrushchev gave up in 1954.

I don’t know why you conclude I’m unfamiliar with Russian history. I’ve read Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, Victor Hugo, plus a history book or two.

Close the damned thread.

Honest answer?

Because Russia disrupted the Democrats' money laundering operation when they invaded.

Its corrupt

Yep. We're getting glimpses into the corruption in Ukraine. What I want to know is, are there deadly virus labs in Ukraine? And if so, is Anthony Fauci and his pals involved in funding those labs? Fauci lied to Congress about the NIH funding of the ChiCom Wuhan Lab. I wonder what else is he's hiding.

The congressional hearings last week on gain-of-function research by the ChiComs were chilling—scary stuff. I think if the ChiCom are involved in GOF research, we can reasonably assume our demoniac pals in this government are involved in this hazardous research also. We know Antony Fauci was. This GOF research is so dangerous, Barack Obama kicked it out of the USA.

I'll say it. I don't believe anything my government tells me anymore. We keep hearing the Covid-19 virus was released, accidently, from that Wuhan Lab. I don't believe that. What blew me away last week during that congressional hearing? Covid-19 is 1% lethal. The ChiComs are doing GOF research on a Nipah virus that is 60% lethal. If that virus gets lose we talking about a super massive pandemic. A pandemic that would take civilization millennia to recover from.

America better start demanding answers.

Because the US government is every bit as corrupt as Ukraine, but on a far far larger scale.

I just spoke with an Army soldier yesterday, and he agreed that we need to take care of our own borders and not be sending 40-plus billion x God Knows How Much to Ukraine, and wherever else, and then he said "but they will make big money off Ukraine, so it won't happen."

ETA: don't ever feel sorry for Germany. Your tax dollars and mine pay for the military defense of Germany, and their economy reaps the benefits of it

it's a grand bank robbery

our money goes overseas, those countries agree to use that same money to buy weapons from our MIC companies in exchange

it's funneled out in wide directions from there

it doesn't "trickle." It flows like a mother fricker away from us and to our enemies
