Show your math, dude. If you want to get the budget balanced and start retiring the national debt, you must increase revenues.

Selective tax cuts that only affect this group or that group are wrong. It is exactly what has gotten us into this IRS hell we live in now.

You get selective tax cut plans when you elected regarded populists like Orange Jesus. He is just pandering to his base and is not serious about getting the fiscal house in order.

Taxes must be raised and spending slashed drastically. The math is the math.

Taxes do not need to be raised. Spending needs to be slashed drastically. And then spending needs to be slashed moar.

Selective tax cuts that only affect this group or that group are wrong. It is exactly what has gotten us into this IRS hell we live in now.

A flat tax is simple and fair. If that can eventually be lowered or eliminated great.

[quote]It is beyond ridiculous that YOU (in many cases) are forced to hire someone to fill out your taxes so that the gov't can take what you owe. Ridiculous that the tax code is so freaking full of exemptions, child tax credits and married filing jointly etc. But I digress.

Most wage earners don't need assistance preparing their returns. Business owners and folks dealing with state tax issues are the ones that need help due to the complexities.

Frankly a lot of rich foks pay me because they don't want to to frick with it.

Would you rather the government have all your sensitive financial information? That is where you can end up if you just give them full access to your financial records. The information they get annually is limited in nature now.

Tax returns for 95 plus percent of people are super easy and you are bitching to bitch. lolz.

Taxes do not need to be raised to get rid of the deficit.

Please share your detailed plan to balance the budget without raising taxes. The class will wait.

That's kind of my red line. If they let those cuts expire I'll officially be off the deep end.

Correct. Tax rates will have to go up on everyone, even grandma and the poors.

You are starting to wake up, baw.

1.8 trillion deficit.

Cut 1.8 trillion. No annual deficit.

Simple. And that doesn't even address how tax cuts often lead to larger tax revenue.

That sounds great. What are you going to cut?

The devil is in the details.

Source to a credible study that proves this claim?

Me, nothing. But as you eluded too. It doesn't matter what is cut, the math still works. A real discussion on what to cut needs to be its own thread.

No "scientific" study. Real life has shown it to be true right here in the US. No need for a study.

Who should pay more in taxes? Everyone? The folks not currently paying anything or very little? The folks already paying in disproportionately to others?

I’d be extremely surprised if they could pass such radical measures with such a slim majority.

Bring the vote and force Dems (or anyone) to vote against it.

Mid-term suicide.

How many waiters pay taxes as it is? Not very many. Most are part time employees and don’t report the $50 they made over a 4 hour lunch shift at Chilis.

Any tax should be on all. No exceptions. This philosophy of we are only going to tax a certain group sets it up so that if for example that group is 33% then the 67% of the people can come together to force the entire burden on the 33%!

I favor a system where if the public supports a tax increase it will always affect them directly. They must vote for a tax increase on themselves.

He will have a tough time geting any of those thru congress.....maybe tips....but the other 2 are gonna be tough.

I think he will have to settle for a reduction in taxes, not a full removal..

Where did you get your economics degree? Nowhere I’m sure. I got mine from LSU. Please stop posting about things you know nothing about.

Then why not just eliminate taxes on everyone and increase productivity through the roof?

That is very subjective. Progressives always say "millionaires and billionaires" should. They can never define it.

That's true.

But if one person is paying none and another person is paying some and both people made money that year, you can be pretty sure that's not a fair share.
