Well Obama's right. You have to talk to the voters and connect with them. Obama understands how Trump got the basics right and how he had a chance to win to begin with.
It's for that reason why Obama took quite a few shots at Clinton and her campaign and called them out for this. He said that you have to compete everywhere, go to every county fair, every stir fry, every rally and connect with the voters. Obama said he may not have won that community he competed in but he would lose by 15 points instead of 40 points.
You can be a hater of Trump all you want but you have to give his work ethic in this election props. He earned the victory himself by working his arse off and going to rallies everywhere even in states that still voted for Clinton. He talked to the voters and connected with them in a way Clinton never bothered to do herself. He put in the work himself and earned the Presidency.
Obama and Trump competed everywhere and won the Presidency as a result. Hillary was lazy, stayed home and she got humiliated as a result.

The Washington Examiner had a good article a few days after the election about Bill's lonely efforts to connect with those voters with little to no help from the campaign and Brooklyn. LINK
The lesson here is simple. You have to compete everywhere and not just the big cities and burbs. And President Clinton, President Obama and President Trump understood that lesson while former democratic nominee Hillary Clinton never learned that lesson and refused to out of sheer arrogance.

It's okay, the melting icebergs from global warming will compensate for the melting snowflakes. Good thing too, this could have led to the extinction of most marine life.
