Huh? You made the misstatement that the only legal use of deadly force for a LEO is self defense. I, and others here, are pointing out this ignorance by giving other examples. This specific case is clear self defense.

The shooting appears to stop the threat.
Fortunately for him, her tire slipped on the ice when she decided to accelerate while he was crossing the front of the vehicle. If it had gripped the road, he quite obviously could have been run over and crushed. The fact that the roads were icy may have saved his life considering we saw his feet slide rather than grip the road upon impact.

The officer had a limited number of options. A lower level of force (taser, baton, OC spray, striking with bare hands, or verbal direction) were probably going to be less effective than what he was best equipped to use - a weapon designed to stop the threat. He still sustained injury thanks to icy ground, but it thankfully (and not predictably) ended up not being a serious bodily injury. But it clearly could have been.

I was going to post she was driving a Honda Pilot not an RV, but you beat me to it.
It seems the concept of Obstruction of Justice being a crime enforceable by Federal Law Enforcement, which also is not a traffic violation, is a bridge too far for some.
I'll stay tuned for the next episode of leftists grasping at straws.
