As George Carlin said, “ maybe the only reason people are here, is because the planet wanted plastic and couldn’t make it itself”

I remember Birmingham looking like your image back in the 1960s

Calling plastic bags "pollution" is an ugly and bigoted way of thinking about evolution and nature. "Plastic bags" are the new "black thugs".
Dale, you over-thought this one.

this is akin to the gun control argument

The U.S. total is almost all litter, which is disgraceful. I do not understand why anyone would want to litter anywhere. I was getting gas yesterday in a nice part of Dallas and I saw a man dump his ashtray on the ground - and there was a trash can four feet away.

China is the biggest polluter by every metric, are they not?

China to the rest of the world: Deal with it.
Not unlike Democrat ideology: Let the Republicans straighten out the mess we've made. Just give me the votes.

People who eat fast food in their cars aren't far behind.

I have never understood why environmentalists won't attack the litter problem. It has the least complex cause of any of the problems. A friend of mine is a huge anti-fracking activist - but won't touch the litter issue.
Plastic isn't the problem - lazy and/or indifferent people are the real problem.

Plastic bags, the ultimate carbon sequestration!
It’s the green thing to do!

Fracking and climate change involve scientific debate. Litter really doesn't. So, I think they go for the more interesting debate.

Did you clean it up?? If not your concern is fake. Just sayin'

Neither can survive any actually scientific debate. Thats why they run from it yelling.."The debate is over!!...The science is settled!" over their shoulder as they run.

I want to keep plastic bags around, just in case liberals want to start a new cutting edge protest where they place the bags over their heads.

True. Fracking earthquakes and climate change are both generally accepted by the real science community (though the latter more than the former).
