quote:Correct. The average "small government conservative" is likely remarkably reliant on government intervention and largesse without even realizing it.
Almost every homeowner receives government assistance via Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. Folks with NFIP flood policies are also receiving gov't subsidized flood insurance...

42% of LA is on MedicAid. It is welfare. MediCare was paid into.

think his/her point may go more towards you could a huge net income tax payer, but maybe you just own some high rise apartment/condo in Houston or Chicago. You’re not an actual landowner.
Some people are actual landowners and receive way more money from government than they pay income taxes.
Good point. But at the end of the day owning land makes the most sense to me. I know that would lend more to rural people and I think that would be better.

Ok. Only landowners vote.
Also, only landowners pay taxes.
No vote, no taxation.

No vote, no taxation.

That would be a step in the right direction.

Let’s go a step further guys, anyone who doesn’t have $5 million in the bank get sent to prison. If you don’t have at least a few million, you are a net loser. Only the rich should get rights, everyone else is too poor to deserve a life. That’s the true America that we need to return to, slavery and aristocracy.

When only land owners were voting we never paid more than 3% in taxes.

Only married men who live in a home with their wife and children and financially support their wife and children .

I'd settle for tax payers and citizens

Everybody gets the same rights. Voting isn't a right. Voting is a privilege granted by government. Rights come from God

Anybody that is under the rule of a governing body that makes decisions that effect them should be allowed to vote.
THUS OUR SYSTEM

This discussion triggers the hell out of some of you. People who don't pay taxes couldn't care less about increased taxes. They don't care about reckless, bloated government spending, importing criminal illegals by the millions, or having a military big enough to destroy the earth 50 times over.
Why should the people who do not sacrifice to support this bloated, wasteful, fraudulent, government be able to vote for more waste, fraud, and abuse?

Why?
Any tax levied on your property ownership is at the state or local level.

Define “anybody”. I agree with your statement if “anybody” means citizens, legal permanent residents, etc.
But absolutely no to the idea that illegals or those overstaying visas should be allowed to vote

Some prog Dim (Gates, Soros, etc.) would buy up thousands of acres and gift everyone in blue areas with one square inch of land, making them eligible to vote.
What’s more likely is they’d make it impossible to own land. Getting that way now anyhow.

I don’t think people on welfare should be allowed to vote, but why would you take voting rights away from people who live in an apartment?
I know apartment dwellers generally have less money than “landowners”, but I don’t really care how much money a voter has as long as they’re not taking welfare from the government.
