Because it’s the new normal. So not wearing a mask puts you on the fringe

I love the way we've put out foot down on masks. Yet we've let the Patriot Act run riot for almost 20 years because terrorism (which is WAY less deadly than even the obviously perfectly safe coronavirus.

So, I guess this means that those who feel this way will be wearing a mask the rest of their lives.

They should. Coronavirus isn't the only communicable disease you can kill someone with. And it's so easy to wear a mask so why not just do it? I guess you just have to be a discourteous arse!!!!

Or. Maybe. Just maybe. The whole paradigm is retarded

why can't the people that are concerned over someone else not wearing a mask just socially distance themselves from the non-mask-wearing person? And if their mask works, whey do they care if someone chooses not to wear a mask?

More people died from gun shots in NY than they did from Covid in last 24 hours.

Do i wear a mask or bullet proof vest.

I would just stay out of NY.

Right. And how do these people know who got a 50% effective vaccine and who didn't. They better mask up!

Maybe it's because I'm usually around a late 20s to early 40s crowd but I haven't noticed any one giving a shite one way or the other.

If it's mandated people wear them. If it's not, it's a mixed bag but I haven't noticed any one leery of me when I don't wear one just as I haven't noticed any one giving a shite on the occasion that I do opt to wear one.

Why do you think goldman wants masks? It's not about anything other than keeping the economic wheels turning. They're not even being shy about it

How, precisely, will masks enable the economy to turn? Are you under the impression that the masks will stop the virus from spreading?

It WILL SPREAD, QUICKLY, whenever things open up. Mask or no mask.

Its not a conspiracy theory to assert that elected officials are largely concerned only with their social media constituencies. Therefore, they feel the need to #DOSOMETHING. That is all the masks are. The virus is going to spread throughout the entire population either way. Whether that takes 6 months or 2 months is of zero consequence, because there will not be a true universally effective vaccine anytime soon. However, prolonging the effects has a marked negative impact on every other aspect of life.

But I guess as long as the same number of people get infected and/or die over 10 months instead of within a concentrated period of several weeks then everything will just be so much better.

See, I feel the opposite. It's stupid that more americans don't get the flu shot. Hell, even if all you care about is the economy and productivity, a cheap as frick flu shots makes tons of sense
the flu shot isn't 100% and never claims to be. So you should still wear a mask

Now is a weird time to defend the status quo what with our shitty habits across society

It really isn't even about the masks. It's about the fact that the orders are a gross abuse of authority. It should alarm every American that this abuse is occurring with virtually no push back and actually a majority of people are cheering it on

It shows that people have no actual concept of how our nation is supposed to run and don't value it

I know. It's consistent with your life view of low risk tolerance. I have high risk tolerance. An interesting connection is with the other thread on getting rid of Mt. Rushmore.

All of those men on Rushmore had one thing in common besides being a president. They all lived VERY dangerous lives. They faced death constantly. It didn't bother them.

So, go get your shots and keep your mask on and stay in your mom's basement. It's your freedom to do so. But don't bother those of us who are willing to take our chances with risks. We don't want to live like you.
