Let's park the Jesuit HNIC Experiment, chalk it up as an L, put them back to their traditional accoutrement status. Maybe mark the continent of origin as a question mark depending on Order?

Vatican is an old institution sitting on a gold mine but with no real vision.

But the Catholic Church isn’t bound by the government’s rules, and the USA isn’t bound by the Vatican’s rules or ideologies.

So the Pope, and priest, can say say what they want, especially if it’s following Jesus’ teachings. Does the USA have to act upon it? Hardly.

On Palm Sunday, our Parochial Vicar (the 2nd priest in command, if you will, for non-Catholics) said Mass and made a comment that was supportive of Francis position that removing illegals from the US wasn't where we should go...someone across the aisle from me shouted "It's illegal!" When you have parishoners directly challenging priests, during Mass no less, it might be time to rethink the direction of the Church.

This is why politics and church don't mix. There is no good answer. Should we be rounding up families that came here looking for a better life? Nope. Should we open the borders and allow unvetted migrants with no forced assimilation? Nope.

I don't have an answer because I am not sure there is one.

When in doubt, go with the advice of St Paul and work out your won salvation in fear and trembling.

I think you're taking that reduction of the discussion and it's bigger picture a little bit too far...what did Jesus ask about the coin and whose inscription was on it?

And ask Archbishop Aymond if the Church isn't subject to civil law and penalty. Maybe he can stop writing those checks that are driving the Archdiocese toward bankruptcy.

1. I'll pray for his soul
2. I'll celebrate a new Pope. He was a disaster

I hope they finally get a Pope that goes all in on gay sin being ok. So most of the Roman Catholic Church will have to denounce all those false doctrines and embarrassing rituals that give Christianity a bad look.

Mary can’t save you!!

Yeah, that's it. You got me there, Copernicus. I'll never recover from that blistering, fact based attack.

You're proof that when the argument has resorted to name calling, the battle has been lost. I hope your parents are proud.

Website error, smart arse. But I wouldn't expect you to comprehend such things, with your witty retorts and deep logic.

It appears you aren't familiar with the teachings of Jesus, who founded the Catholic Church.

Jesus was a "globalist." He didn't preach to only love the people who shared His same citizenship or who agreed with Him politically. Jesus was not concerned with material things and encouraged His followers to give everything they owned away. Political conservatives worship billionaires and condemn Catholic social teaching.

Multiple things wrong with your comment.

First, Jesus did not found the Catholic Church.

Next, trying to pretend Jesus was a modern-day globalist is pure nonsense. Good luck making that work. You will never be able to connect this apostate Pope's open borders nonsense to the teachings of Jesus.

Jesus did definitely command us to give charitably, but no he did not want all Christians to live in poverty. Modern day conservative Christians in the USA follow His guidance on charity closer than any other groups in the world today.
