Point is that in an era where high ranking government officials lie to congress (among other crimes) AND boldly lie to the American people with impunity, ringing D'Souza up on this was ridiculous

Why did he admit to committing the crime he was accused of?

Because he did it?

US Government: "D'Souza, we're accusing you of making illegal campaign contributions. Are you guilty or not guilty of these charges?"

D'Souza: "I'm guilty of knowingly committing the crime you're charging me with"

Trump: "The government did D'Souza wrong!"

Dumb Trump supporters: "You tell em Trump! Trump is the law and order President and he shows it by pardoning a person who has admitted to the crime for which he was charged!"

Oh look someone who doesn't know (or is just willfully obtuse to) how criminal pleas work on arcane federal criminal charging.

It's hardly the gotcha you think it is, but I guess pretending otherwise can be fun.

Exactly. And exactly why should his crimes be ignored?

So every person that pleads guilty to an offence is guilty?

Stay strong, Michael Cohen (and anyone else potentially facing campaign financing charges).

You realize that every pardon in American history, either at the federal or state level, involved someone convicted of a crime.

This isn't new or novel.

Can you find another person who has been prosecuted for the crime he committed? Especially at such a small dollar amount?

It's crazy how the guy the DOJ randomly selected to make an example of was also an out-spoken critic of Obama and Clinton. What are the chances?

There’s actually quite a few prosecutions for straw donor violations. Not sure about the sentencing aspect.

Because he's already served the bulk of his punishment for them and very few others in the political realm are being pursued for their equivalent/worse crimes?

It's was probably just a pure random coincidence that this guy wrote a couple of books and made a movie slamming Obama and then got hit with this, huh?

should have worded it differently. No person in American history has gone to prison for a similar offense.
