It was the department of war for most of the country’s history.

The War Department merged with the Navy Department after WW2, bringing the armed forces under unified structure. It wasn't a renaming.

Do we want as a nation that commits to war over defense though?

Do you honestly think "defense" was anything other than lipstick on a very big pig? The department of "defense" has been about nothing but war for a very long time.

Democrats will message that Trump has only weeks to live as he battles bone and brain cancer after recovering from a quadruple by-pass surgery as he takes questions boarding Marine One.
I remember people saying Putin had some kind of blood cancer or bone cancer and he had only months to live at best.

That was almost 3 and a half years ago

We’ve been conducting offensive expeditionary warfare in foreign nations for decades.

We haven’t been practicing defense for quite a while. We’ve been on offense, fricking things up and killing people all over the world.

So Dept of War is much more appropriate for what we do.

I don't disagree, but what does spending millions on renaming and rebranding do from a practical standpoint?

Well it’s about to be the War department again. Not that it really matters.

Assuming that’s what this announcement is about.

They’re still saying it. Didn’t you see his noticeable limp in Alaska?!?!

Kilmeade: “we don’t know what’s wrong with Putin, but something is clearly wrong with him health wise!”

Its a large waste of money. Similar to renaming military installations or anything else for no reason. Not to mention all of the work it needlessly creates changing forms, regulations, administrative code bullshite, ad infinitum.

You're probably talking hundreds of millions of dollars in worldwide direct/indirect costs.

Disagree on the second point. The Navy provides a very tangible service to the world economy by patrolling sea lanes. They keep the Chinese navy in check in SEA, Iran mostly calms the frick down when there's a Carrier around the Persian Gulf, they even still do a little bit of pirate hunting off the coast of Somalia.

It’ll trigger some liberals. I’m okay with my tax dollars going to that noble cause.

Also it goes along with Secretary Hegseth’s mantra of bringing warrior ethos back to the military.

That's my guess, as well.
I also think that's why Rubio is in Mexico.

Perhaps put a bit more stigma on the war profiteering industry that has hidden under the word "defense" in omnibus bills and budgets for decades, but I take your point.

I can see the alphabet channels saying this but Kilmeade? Wow. But I don't doubt it.

All of the media helped the propaganda---- when Biden triple dog dared/begged Putin to invade Ukraine..

They claimed Putin has a super secret submarine that is called the Poseidon missile or something-- That can easily give the USA coast 1000 foot waves with a super secret weapon.

Here it is: Putin's Poseidon and the Radioactive Tidal Wave of Death

Now it is, and other things could be said. I don't care if he riffs for hours because the assholes wished he was dead.
