Not quite. They have to weigh that freedom against their personal freedom. Because if I don’t catch/stop them, someone else or the law will. Without the law limiting their freedom, it’s only you or me that stands in the way. That’s fine for those around you, but what about your parents in another town?

This isn't prevention. It's reactionary, and at best a mild deterrent for some people. The law catching them after the fact is irrelevant.

Said as if it is somehow preferable to not have the deterrent, not have the law, and not have law enforcement. Whatever.

I'm just telling you that you haven't removed the choice from people who want to commit those crimes.

This is an argument a Democrat would make.

Or, someone who believes in a republican form of government and the rule of law.

Belief is irrelevant to the discussion. You're trying to blow smoke about the rule of law protecting me or my family. It won't. Only a Democrat would believe otherwise.

Berlin was pretty decadent in the 1920’s into the early 1930’s. It didn’t end well.

I'm not selling anything. I'm telling you that "the rule of law" isn't the security blankie you make it out to be.

No security blanket, but you’d be wishing for one in a “free” society. Survival of the fittest only benefits the fit.

That's a huge reason I oppose the gun grabbing your like-minded Democrats so desperately wish for. I'm not naive enough to believe the rule of law will take care of me. You are.

Seems the "next they'll try to make beastiality legal" argument wasn't so crazy after all.

It all started with legalizing gay marriage

You funny. I’ve carried daily for 25 years, my 23 and 25 year old sons carry daily, and my wife is a better shot than you, pistol or rifle. At best the rule of law helps to protect those unable to protect themselves. At worst it is far superior to anarchy.

No, you want to limit freedoms and others would like you to not.

Would you like to limit my freedom of killing you without consequence? Hypothetically speaking.

That's a wild assumption to make for someone you don't know.

You still funny. I’m a 2A absolutist. Ask your brokeback buddy Hanky.
