Russia released a statement saying that Trump's comments are due to "emotional overstrain" so they basically said he's acting like a woman. I don't think Trump's ego will like that one.

NATO was formed after world war 2 to prevent USSR from invading a weakened Europe.
USSR is long gone. What has happened, NATO has expanded to the doorstep of Russia. THE VERY THING WE DID NOT WANT THE USSR TO DO.
And dont give me that gibberish about "sovereign" countries, you think Ukraine is free???
Its akin to one of these ignorant protesters screaming and you tell them to stand back. Now they are in your face "claiming they have not touched you" while spittle flies in your face and its game on.
The US caused this and unfortunately as in most cases, our puppets suffer the consequences.
We tried to solve it, zelensky is too drunk with power. We need to absolve ourselves of this and let the Ukraine people handle it while they still have part of a country left.

Yes, it looks to have been a wise choice to expand.
If you think Putin would not have snapped up the Baltics already you are a fool.
Russia's fate due to it's population decline is to be either a strong dependent of the US, or a strong slave to China.

Thanks for the thorough response. Immediately after the Zelenskyy White House performance, almost all of us were thrilled. The Europeans seemed poised to take over support of Ukraine without our help.
Personally, from what I have read, Russia seemed unlikely to attack the Baltic states because of NATO obligations, but I don't know THAT much about it.
IMO, China is our only natural enemy. Our strategic policy should be shaped by that. The more we isolate Putin, the stronger Russia's relationship with China grows. I don't know if that can be avoided.

I wish there was a way to decouple them, but I'm not sure there is any path with Putin in charge.
He personally needs China (And North Korea).
The choice seems to be between a weakened Russia with 20% of Ukraine and a Weakened Russia with 60% of Ukraine.
Not a good choice either way.
The NATO question is really what deterrent is NATO while the US is fully occupied with the Taiwan invasion.
We will probably lose a couple carriers even if successful (probably not sunk, but totally out of the fight).
Trump's out of office by Jan 2029, All China needs is the US president to be fully occupied with China for Russia to decide a land invasion of the Baltics won't draw US Nuke Strikes (And end the world).
That takes the UK/France out of a Taiwan engagement.
And the way Euro militaries are they won't last 2 weeks with out France/UK.
It's not a good choice unless Russia can't rebuild in time and Europe actually cues their case of alligator arms.

Leyte Gulf was a longer distance, but America had established at sea dominance that culminated in the battle destroying the Japanese fleet.
