LOL! Grocery stores are packed. Home improvement stores are packed. You really think "social distancing" is having any real affect on this?
I have gone to every store, business establishment, and restaurant that I would normally visit before this thing started, the only difference being I can’t eat in the restaurants. I think the social distancing will be proven to be nonsense.

How much of the economy has the federal government shut down?
Zero

Dipshit, that’s 60k with full social distancing. We don’t shut everything down to mitigate seasonal flu.
No, we just vaccinate 200,000,000 people every year.

I presented two articles.
One had the range from 3 K yo 49K. I didn’t see an average, but logically the average number of deaths couldn’t be 60,000 right?
The other article had the average ftom 1976 to
2007 as 23,607.
Show me something that states the yearly US average for flu deaths and I will say Rush was right. I looked and I couldn’t find it. Can you?

No we don't. The number is always well under half, and I think it's typically closer to 35%-40%.

Lol.....don’t know how dense the person is you are talking about.....but this “model” you speak of only assuming 50% of US population moderately social distancing.....there new projection is 3% of what there original prediction was......
Would they have been able to make a panic of the American people if they used more realistic assumptions in there modeling?? No they wouldn’t have so, they chose to be extremely conservative to have an extremely high projection of death....so don’t fricking tell me those numbers weren’t inflated you dense jackass.
Also I love they based it off of 50% of US population moderately social distancing....wtf does that even mean? Do they give you a baseline of this obviously very important parameter and how that input influences the model? No they just assume everyone will just say oh yeah that sounds good to me, 50% yeah that makes sense and 2.2 million people will die holy frick shut everything down....and then here you come touting their great statistical modeling.....frick off.....if some average Joe made that projection for whatever business and pitched it to your bosses and you were off by 97%.....you would be FIRED. Not even in the same ball park of an estimate

You are acting like a Democrat.
Trump’s administration puts out a set of guidelines, recommends that they are followed, encouraged compliance and takes measures to help those impacted and you pretend Trump has nothing to do with shutting things down!!!!

Yeah, someone a week or so ago on this forum attempted to compare this to engineers using calculations and estimates to design a bridge.

I didn't say he wasn't a contributing factor, but I'm stating facts. I don't think all of the advice from the Feds has been sound, but he's at least been smart enough not to attempt to mandate some dumbass one-size-fits-all option for how the states and localities should respond. Arkansas should not and is not adopting the same measures as, say, New York.

As a result of all this modeling it’s apparent that scientists really don’t know much about disease, predicting its spread and it’s impact.
On a regular basis we watch the weather and see the various meteorologists showing us the weather and more often than not models disagree and sometimes none are correct.
Now tell me why we should believe climate models telling us temperatures, sea level, etc. decades in the future?

Now, if we social distance for the next 20 years, everything will be fine.

Believe what you want. The numbers were off by a lot, not a little bit. If you think social distancing is the only (or even the primary) factor in that miscalculation, you're a DUPE.

And I’ve heard president Trump chastising governors for their actions, but never Arkansas. The man has lead. Maybe he wasn’t a fortune teller and took bold action in December, but he quickly saw a huge issue and went to work. He’s not perfect, but he did what was best with the information he received and did what he thought he had to do.
No he didn’t shut down things in a state, but he certainly would have if it was his job to do so.

I haven’t looked....but I personally wouldn’t be posting statistics that are not representative of the current global environment we live in now.
Just food for thought.....don’t you find it strange that you can’t find stats for flu deaths over the last 10+ years....but yet you can find it for the 70’s 80’s and 90’s??
A few weeks back I tried google searching when the exact date was that Trump implemented the China travel ban and I could not find it anywhere. I went 4-5 pages deep on various google searches and couldn’t find anything....how ironic.....you would think searching “when did trump declare travel ban from China because of covid19” you would find your answer. Few weeks ago that wasn’t the case....not saying you couldn’t find it then, but it was much more time consuming than one would think to find something so public.

Maybe you just suck at googling?

I don’t post stats without a source. If you do this place will eat your lunch

Yes, best I could find was a range or a gigure stopping at 2007. You?

I don't disagree with that. It's still a fact that he didn't shut down the economy.

It’s a fact that no one shut down the economy.
It’s a fact that Trump led the National COVID-19 fight.
