Right, and the Democrats did a good job of telling people how to vote in the new system. Still Sarah lost by less than 3% in a special election where her opponent will have to go up against her again in November. Sarah's chances will be much better in November when conservative voters know there is an election and will have better knowledge of ranked choice voting.

I hope Democrats keep extrapolating this win as a red puddle instead of a red wave because the logic behind it makes no sense. A brand new voting system, in Alaska, with low turnout and your candidate wins with less than 3% of the vote is not an indication of how things will turn out nationwide in November.

Something that is not relevant to the result. Ranked choice is the reason Palin only lost by 3%

The Natives is how LM won as an independent when republicans did not want her. Then this ranked voting showed up and she wins again. So according to you since corruption is high she should stop running.

Everyone bitching about ranked choice realizes that she would have lost without it too, right? She didn’t get the most first place votes either.

Quick question. Under the previous system which did not include ranked choice voting, how would two Republicans have been in an election on the ballot together?

I’ll hang up and listen.

Saw this was interesting

quote:

In the special election primary, Palin received 27% of the vote, Begich received 19% of the vote, Gross received 13% of the vote, and Peltola received 10% of the vote.

In the general election, Peltola received 36.8% of the vote, Palin received 30.2% of the vote, and Begich received 26.2% of the vote.

One of them running as a write in after losing the GOP primary. That’s how Murkowski won in 2010.

I don’t see any reason to believe that the percentage of Begich’s voters that ranked Palin last/Peltola second would have voted for Palin if Begich was not in the race.

So two Republicans wouldn’t have been on the ticket as Republicans prior to this new system that includes ranked choice voting.

Thanks for taking my call.

What? I just gave you an example of two Republicans appearing on the ballot in the prior system.

Besides, are you saying that Begich voters who ranked Peltola second/Palin last were going to vote for Palin if it was just Palin and Peltola?

The knee jerk reactions to ranked choice are not thinking through that she would have lost this election anyway.

But as we begin pulling at the thread of your argument, it’s not nearly as definitive as you came into the thread proclaiming. Is it?

I’ll answer it for you. It isn’t.

The era of MAGA is over.

I had a little money in savings last year. I had a financial advisor recommend investing.

He shows me stats and says, if you had invested in 2016, your investment would have doubled by now. He said you may not see quite that much growth because it isn't typical but you will likely see growth.

So I invested the savings I had in June of last year and have since lost 20% of what I invested.

That is the difference between MAGA and Biden. Success versus failure. You vote for misery while we vote for prosperity.

Ok, you can return to the low IQ “hurr durr ranked choice is just there to protect Murkowski” circle jerk.

Let me guess. The other candidate pondered more and offered more free shite. Don't you just love what politics has become.
She checked off the same demographics box as they do, and stupid people vote based on skin color. Also, there are lots of stupid people.
