methinks you have mistaken me.

I am merely amazed at how the Bible has been attacked as though it were a scientific document rather than an honest attempt to write down what appeared at the time to be the best way for people to lead their lives and how to pass that information on to succeeding generations.

And no - I have not read other Religious dogma - But I do not rush to trash them either.

I think the very idea of a group of people just emerging from the Stone Age could gather themselves to attempt documenting a proper way to live for the betterment of the future.

Lions don't do that - Lions kill what they can to eat - they screw whatever females willl tolerate them and never lose a moment worrying whether or not they are doing the right thing for the happiness of whatever cubs they produce. They just do what seems 'natural' at the moment to do.

Many human beings operate on that schema = it doesn't work out well for his associates as a general rule. People noticed that and - given this unusual capacity that we have been Gifted with - attempt to put some constraints on what pure animal urges seem to take over our thought processes from time to time = and they sought to do something to make things 'better' for their progeny.

These efforts molded themselves into what many call "religion" - a set of mores to be passed down thru the generations for the betterment of all.

Going beyond that is beyond my ken and although I have my private thoughts on the matter - they are no better than any other man's thoughts. I never try to convince anyone of my righteousness. I only offer honesty.

And I live to be corrected when I am wrong - but I don't fall for specious arguments easily.

Pardon my ignorance but could you answer a question:

Has there been a favorable genetic mutation in humans n the past 2000 years? Thanks

Sure. Humans have become much more naturally resistant to malaria in the past 2000 years. There are groups of indigenous people that have evolved to have much larger spleens because they need to Free Dive.

That's not a lie. But anyway, I think it's down to your theory is nonsense and my Bible is nonsense as per usual.

What observable, testable, objective data do you base this on?

I'm opposed to evolution and the impossibly large time it requires. Why is 7 days any more incredible than billions of years? Creation in days isn't any less believabe than an omnipotent being creating it is it? If I don't believe in evolution and I believe in the old earth model the I would have to believe either a) absolutely nothing happened on a billion year old planet until Adam was created or B) humans have been here for billions of years before Adam undocumented. I know Jesus was crucified around 2000 years ago. There are generations of humans before that. There were 14 generations from Jesus to Abraham. Abraham was three generations from Noah. You have a couple generations from Noah to Adam but in that time they lived hundreds of years. I do think we are a recent feature, earth included.
It is fascinating to me that there are still people who believe this way. It's really no different from the flat Earth people in my mind. Evolution is simply that obvious.

More non-biblical fantasies fabricated by Foomanchoo.

If “God” existed outside of time, he wouldn’t have had to correct so many of his mistakes, like putting a big beautiful fruit free from which an ignorant man and woman were forbidden to eat. He wouldn’t have regretted creating mankind. He wouldn’t have regretted killing mankind in a flood. He wouldn’t have promised victory to the Israelites and went with them into battle as Yahweh Sabaoth only to lose to the Canaanites with their iron chariots and lose to King Mesha of Moab.

I find it inconceibeable that it could have been assembled by human instinct only - without being guided by a Higher Power.

Have you actually read the Bible? Seriously.

There’s so much foolishness in there. The stars aren’t going to fall out of the sky down to earth. How did the penguins, polar bears, kangaroos, and sloths get back to their lands after Noah’s flood? I mean, come on.

There’s no way a good, moral, all knowing and all powerful supernatural being had a hand in the assembly of the Bible as we know it. And even if he did, he failed to preserve the original texts, as is plainly obvious comparing the Dead Sea scrolls fragments to the Septuagint and Masoretic texts. Just listen to the great prophet Jeremiah:

Jeremiah 8:8
quote:

“How can you say, ‘We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us’? But behold, the lying pen of the scribes has made it into a lie.
